Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Coordinator

Martin Tilly-Reed

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Martin, I'm the activities coordinator here at Collingtree Park

My role is to ensure that our activities, outings and the entertainment we provide is stimulating and inclusive of all our residents no matter their challenges. It is important to me that our weekly calendar offers enriching experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends’ meetings we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Collingtree Park that will make for a richer activities program to be developed.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here  to contact the activities team direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Collingtree Park Care Home

Shopping Time

Shopping Time

We have had lots of trips out shopping for Christmas presents and to enjoy some of the lovely Christmas displays around Northampton. Most recently, we visited Wyevale Garden Centre, and off we went shopping for Christmas decorations, stopping off for a yummy hot chocolate along the way.

Northampton Beavers

Northampton Beavers

We had a lovely visit from the Northampton Beavers recently. They started the evening off by giving residents cards that they had made themselves. It was lovely to welcome them into our home and they really enjoyed singing carols and spreading Christmas cheer.

Once the singing was finished, we all enjoyed a yummy cup of hot chocolate with cream and mini marshmallows. One of the young Beavers told the residents what all his badges on his jumper were for and the residents shared stories with the children from when they were in Guides and Scouts.

Happy Christmas to all the Beavers – we hope to see you all again soon!

Halloween

Halloween

There were spooky goings on at Collingtree Park this Halloween! The staff held a fancy dress competition and residents chose the winner. Congratulations to Kerry, who received a trophy and chocolates. We also had an afternoon of 'devilish' games, followed by homemade spooky cakes – a spider and a pumpkin!

The Village Life Project

The Village Life Project

We have started a very exciting project on Memory Lane! Our aim is to create a village that residents can roam around in by themselves. We are going to have a Post Office, a clothing corner and vintage tea rooms. This is a great project for everyone to get involved in; we have already made a start with the help of residents, staff and family members. We cannot wait to share the finished room with you!

The Way Café

The Way Café

The Way Café is a dementia café run by the volunteers of Saint Giles Church. We visit once a month and we can think of no better way to spend a Saturday morning than by connecting with our friends and other care homes that attend.

During our most recent visit, we played a game of giant Connect Four – it was so much fun that the residents have asked if we can get one for our home!

We also spent the morning singing and dancing along to some old time classics! We can’t wait for next month’s café!

Songs of Praise

Songs of Praise

We have been attending Saint Giles' Church's ‘Songs of Praise’ once a month. This Service is designed to be short and fun for older people to enjoy. As well as visiting the church, members of the clergy have also been coming into the home to host services for us. This is a great chance for everyone to get involved and come together to sing and pray together as a home.
