Activities at Cookridge Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Laura Marshall
My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.

Life at Cookridge Court Care Home
Life's a game!
"Life’s a game, and like any great game, it has points”. Our residents really enjoyed our group session of Dominos yesterday. It was lovely to get together over a cup of tea and play each other. We will definitely be making this a regular occurrence
Toe tappers!
Well, what an afternoon we have had yesterday at Cookridge Court with the fabulous live entertainment duo, Toe Tappers!
Everyone was invited to come along and join these fabulous pair, for an afternoon of music, dancing & laughter - we definitely did that!
We cannot wait for Toe Tappers to return next month for everyone to enjoy
Live entertainment
The amazing and wonderful Emma James was back with another fantastic performance for everyone to enjoy. The residents had the best time, singing and dancing away making the room full of laughter and happiness. At the residents request, the fabulous Emma will be back next month
Music through the ages
Our homes had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.
Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.
The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.
Summer Fete brings community together
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Cookridge Court to enjoy a Summer Fete that was held in the home’s grounds on 14/08/2022.
Cookridge Court Cre Home hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including a BBQ, tombola stall, ice creams and live entertainment from Emma James which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.
Staff at Cookridge Court made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments, such as Cold beer, Wine, Pimms & lemonade, succulent burgers, gormet hotdags all prepared by the catering team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!
Suns Out!
Today at Cookridge Court, the sun was shining so we decided to dine alfresco with a delicious BBQ Lunch served up by Sinead and our lovely Catering Team. Serving a selection of Burgers, Hotdogs and Chicken Skewers, (with a side order of summer sun and laughter!), it all went down a real treat with our residents. Just look at those smiles!
