Activities at Cossins House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Lisa Unsworth

Activities Coordinator

I have been working in care since the age of 16, when leaving school. Over the years, I have been a senior care assistant, administrator, home trainer and activities coordinator. I really enjoy working with the elderly residents.

Life at Cossins House Care Home

,

Cooking Class

Residents had a lovely afternoon getting hands on with making cheese scones for all to enjoy. Whilst preparing the scones, each resident engaged with each other about what they use to enjoy baking at home for their families.

Pet Therapy

Residents have been missing visits from their animal friends during this difficult time, so care Staff decided to bring their dogs to Cossins House to spend time with the residents. Dogs are wonderful for companionship. Ron was delighted to meet Alfie and give him a cuddle. Ron has always been fond of dogs and enjoys spending time with them for comfort.

Afternoon Croquet

Residents at Cossins House enjoy getting together in the afternoon for a game of croquet. Residents get competitive with one another to see who can score the highest points.

Well done to Mike, who scored the most points. Mike used his golfing skills, which took him to the top of the leader board. As a team, we have a lot of fun in the garden and laughing together.

Flower Power

Rosina spent the afternoon flower arranging. Cossins House received a donation of different flowers each week from a member of the public to enjoy flower arranging. Residents enjoy coming together to fill all the vases and produce beautiful bouquets to put around our home.

Ball Games

Residents have been enjoying taking regular walks around our garden and doing a morning exercise class each day under our new gazebo.

Fairy Garden

Residents and staff worked together collecting things from our garden to produce our very own Fairy Garden. Whilst working together as a team, residents chatted and enjoyed tea and cake. Phyllis mentioned the little dog in our Fairy Garden, which reminds her of our PAT dog, Bobby, who visits on a regular basis.
