Activities at Cossins House Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Lisa Unsworth
I have been working in care since the age of 16, when leaving school. Over the years, I have been a senior care assistant, administrator, home trainer and activities coordinator. I really enjoy working with the elderly residents.

Life at Cossins House Care Home
Shopping trip!
Our lovely resident Barbara was a little worried when moving into Cossins House that she would sadly no longer be able to go shopping.
Barbara’s favourite shop is Waitrose which was very close to her house. She would walk down daily and has become great friends with all the staff there.
Activity Coordinator Lisa, reassured Barbara that she could continue shopping and said she could still enjoy doing what she loves to do.
We set off to the supermarket to do some shopping, Barbara was delighted, she had time to speak to all her friends and see so many familiar faces.
Barbara was very happy to buy some of her favourite products, she said ‘It feels like I am at home, I am really glad I went shopping today’, and she is very much looking forward to the next shopping trip.
100th Birthday celebrations!
Our dear resident Phyllis celebrated her 100th Birthday with her family, friends, residents and staff here at Cossins House.
Phyllis was overwhelmed with gifts, balloons, cake and especially her card from King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Phyllis said ‘ I cannot actually believe I have been alive for 100years, it doesn’t seem real’.
Such a lovely day for all to enjoy and to be our first resident to receive a card from the King!
Bus Trips
At Cossins House our residents like to get out as often as we can. We often visit Garden Centres which is one of our favourite things.
Recently, we went to Squires for afternoon tea which was so delicious. We love visiting many other places too, especially with beautiful views and scenery.
Resident Pat said, ‘It is so nice to get out, it is very good for us and it makes a change in our lives’.
We're certainly looking forward to our next visit out on the bus!
Getting ready for Halloween
We had a lovely trip to Garson’s Farm to look at all the Halloween decorations and features. Such beautiful Autumn colours and some noisy things too. It was a lovely day to walk around and soak up some retail therapy. We popped into the café after for a lovely cup of tea and blueberry cream cake.
Pyrford Lock
Om a lovely sunny day we like to get out and enjoy ourselves. We decided to take a trip to Pyfrord Loch to watch the canal boats pass by us as we enjoyed a cup of tea and ice cream. It was lovely to walk along the canal. Resident Margaret said, ‘It was a pleasure to go back there as I remember going with my family, I have a picture in my bedroom of us there’. Bringing back memories and joy is what we all love.
Drag Queen Cabaret
A fun lively afternoon of entertainment performed by Miss Dot Com who brought fun, laughter and happiness to our home. Performing some of our favourite songs from the past in a wonderful Cabaret style brought joy to us all. Resident Pat said ‘I haven’t laughed so much in ages’, Jean said ‘What a treat, that was fabulous I hope we see her again’.
