Activities at Crabwall Hall Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

Life at Crabwall Hall Care Home
Resident centred activities
When the weather is not good enough for a stroll around the garden, or when residents simply wish to stay in their rooms, there are always plenty of activities that can be room based. Each day the homes activities team deliver resident centred activities and join them to play a selection of games from word puzzles to snakes and ladders and much more! Mary, recently enjoyed childhood favourite, snakes and ladders with Carolyn, activities coordinator, and there was a little friendly competition. This game not only keeps the mind active but improves eye and hand coordination too. When a resident completes a puzzle too there is lots of excitement in the air. The home offers a varied life enrichment programme delivered around residents interests and hobbies past and present.
Chippy tea treat for Residents
Residents of Crabwall Hall love the treat of a chippy tea just like the rest of us and recently enjoyed fish and chips from the homes local chip shop. Residents were given the choice of fish, sausage or chicken with chips, curry sauce or gravy and peas followed by a delicious fruit flan especially made by the homes hospitality tea. Residents enjoyed a cup of tea to wash down their tasty treat. These evenings always sends a ripple of excitement throughout the home and is a real special treat for everyone.
Home exchange gifts with local Fire Service
Residents and Staff at Crabwall Hall care home in Mollington near Chester have recently enjoyed receiving a hamper full of chocolate and sweet treats delivered by their friends in the community at The Cheshire Fire Authority and in return the home gave a hamper of mugs, hot chocolate and sweets for the Fire Station Crews.
General Manager, Kirsty Jones at Crabwall Hall Care Home said: “In these unprecedented times, ensuring residents feel engaged and connected within our local community is more important than ever. Our residents really enjoyed swapping festive treats with the Cheshire Fire Authority.
Keeping Residents connected during the colder months
Residents are overjoyed at Crabwall Hall care home in Mollington near Chester as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a visiting suite pod for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.
Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.
There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment by Barchester Healthcare, who run Crabwall Hall care home. It was welcome news for their residents and family and friends as we enter the colder season meaning catch-ups can continue to take place.
Mayor switches on Christmas lights
Barchester’s Crabwall Hall care home in Mollington nr Chester got into the Christmas spirit early by receiving The Lord Mayor of Chester to officially switch on the extra special Christmas lights on Thursday 3rd December.
Crabwall Hall’s Christmas lights switch on was a truly wonderful event as Residents and staff wrapped up on the winter evening sipping delicious hot chocolate in the courtyard as the beautiful lights were switched on by Lord Mayor, Mark Williams.
The Virtual Nutcracker
Resident Audrey Roberts was overjoyed to watch a live zoom link with the National Ballet Philharmonic Orchestra this week. Residents are feeling connected to the World by being present and attending many events in this way. Barchester care homes have organised a program of live link ups for the festive season enabling us all to deliver a lively life enrichment program.
Audrey’s friend Pam had only just told us that The Nutcracker was one of her favourite ballets and that Audrey did a lot of ballet in her teens. Audrey’s dance teacher was so impressed with her student that she recommended she apply to a National Ballet company that was travelling over to the USA to perform over there. However, this was just as WWII was breaking and Audrey’s father wanted to keep his daughter safe in the UK with him.
As Audrey was watching the performance memories of her beautiful ballet dresses, tutus, and walking ‘en pointe’ came flooding back to her, and the music from The Nutcracker took her back to her dancing days when she said ‘I used to dance all the time’
