Activities at Crabwall Hall Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jacqui Cameron

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

Celebrating the Coronation

The excitement is building as we eagerly anticipate the coronation of King Charles III, it will bring an occasion of great joy and celebration across our homes with many of our residents remembering the Coronation in 1953 of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Celebrating the day with a royal tea party & dance our residents, relatives and staff had a marvellous day!

Coronation history

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

Spring has Sprung at Crabwall Hall

It's so nice to be able to get our residents out in the sun for some fresh air & to connect with nature. At Crabwall Hall we like to promote independence so our residents can enjoy the benefits without relying on others. We have an accessible garden with a large pond full of Koi Carp that can be enjoyed by everyone and we are currently designing a sensory garden.

Blue Planet Aquarium

What an amazing day trip out today with our residents Margaret, Alan & Gerald at the Blue Planet Aquarium. It was wonderful to see our residents faces light up when they saw the Sharks just above their head in the underwater tunnel. It was also very educational learning about the sharks & sting rays at the Aquatheatre show at feeding time.

Home enters Easter cake competition

Excitement is running high at Crabwall Hall Care Home in Chester where residents and staff have been cooking up a storm to enter parent company Barchester Healthcare’s Easter Cake competition.  Details of the competition were announced earlier this year and the home has been busy coming up with, what they hope, will be a winning design.

The competition is being run by Barchester Healthcare across its 250 care homes and private hospitals so the home has some stiff competition to beat. Pride is at stake as chefs and residents at each of the homes across the country battle it out.  Judging will take place just after Easter and the winning cakes for each of Barchester’s divisions will be announced at the end of April.
