Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Katherine Cork
Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.
As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Life at Crandon Springs Care Home
A lovely warm feeling at Crandon Springs
A lovely warm feeling at Crandon Springs. Firstly we welcomed the nursery children for an Easter egg hunt in our beautiful garden, the children loved running around and the residents were able to look out of their bedroom windows and see them having lots of fun.Our lucky winners of the colouring competition, judged by our manager John, were Eliza and Aubrey who won a Thortons chocolate bunny, but no-one went away without a treat as our manager John handed out chocolate lollies to everyone. Also having a lovely day celebrating her birthday was Marion, who had lunch with her family.
Then this afternoon was Easter Bingo which always goes down well and there were very happy winners.
Another happy day at our lovely home.
Go Fudge
Lovely ladies Georgie and Lucy from Go Fudge , part of Daniels Sandwich Bar a family run business in Queen Street Wells visit us.Our residents were delighted to try their delicious fudge including mini egg, turkish delight and some fruity ones also. The staff even came in and sampled the goodies and bought some. What a lovely treat for us all.
Employee of the month
'Employee of the Month'
Every month here at Crandon Springs care home we recognise an 'Employee of the Month'. Our colleagues, residents and relatives can nominate someone each month which means it makes the decision a slightly easier one because each and every one of our team are simply fab!
Our Employee of the month went to the absolutely lovely Claire, our Activities Co-ordinator. Claire aim is to devise creative and meaningful activities, but also emotionally support and motivate residents to enjoy each day.
Claire is passionate about everything she does at Crandon Springs and she has definitely gone that extra mile on more than one occasion, thank you for all that you do Claire.

Happy Parent Club!!
Happy Parent Club!!
Yesterday morning chaos descended on us here at Crandon Springs in the nicest possible way when The Happy Parent Club paid another visit. Helen Carver, part of our fabulous activities team Co-ordinated the morning.
Armed with bags of toys, snacks and drinks they set up camp in out lounge.
There were some beautiful smiles from both residents and children as the two ends of the generations interacted.
One resident even got down on the floor to play amongst them to the delight of the children.
Our 101 year old Muriel had a cuddle with Riley the youngest of the group at 3 and a half month.
With a few mums to be in the group we look forward to welcoming some more patters of tiny feet and we wish them good luck with their new arrivals.
Shrove Tuesday
‘Why can't pancakes sing? They're too flat!’
We enjoyed Shrove Tuesday yesterday, it was a treat. Pancake Day with live music from Damien who plays a selection of classics from the 1940s and 1950s for all to enjoy and to singalong.
Known in the religious calendar as Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day is a traditional feasting day ahead of Lent, which is why we've come to celebrate it by tucking into pancakes.
Some people adore pancakes as sweet as can be, with lashings of Nutella, strawberries and maple syrup. Others opt for a simple version with lemon and sugar, while some go for a savoury variety, with toppings like cheese or ham. So our Chef Elliot said - Why Not, enjoy!
