Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Katherine Cork
Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.
As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Barchester's Charitable Foundation
Barchester's Charitable Foundation is offering three grants totalling £30,000 in the name of a former Barchester resident, Jeanette Gill, who generously donated part of her legacy to the foundation.
The Foundation is calling for deserving local charities and community groups to apply for these special awards.
Named in her memory, the Jeanette Gill Special Awards are open to groups and individuals in need in our local community, and will be awarded to projects that enrich lives and encourage an active lifestyle through arts, music, sports and culture for older people or adults with a disability, or those that may have challenges with mental health. This year will mark the last round of grants from Jeanette Gill’s legacy.
There are three awards available:
• £15,000 GOLD AWARD (open to groups)
• £10,000 SILVER AWARD (open to groups)
• £5,000 BRONZE AWARD (open to individuals)
The Foundation is particularly interested in innovative initiatives that tackle isolation and loneliness, and which bring sustained outcomes and positive changes for the people benefitting.
Dr Pete Calveley, CEO of Barchester Healthcare and Chairman of the Foundation, said: “We were extremely touched that one of our residents donated so generously to Barchester’s Charitable Foundation. We thought it would be fitting to create these flagship grants in her honour and memory as a tribute to the lives she is helping. The charity does so much for local communities throughout the country to tackle and reduce loneliness for many people, and these grants will make a big difference to those in need.”

Two Swans at The Bishop's Palace certainly know a thing or two about Valentine’s Day.
The Bishop's Palace has stunning views, picture-perfect scenery, and just a short walk from Crandon Springs Care home, the restaurants & cafes in Wells High Street, the Palace is ideal for celebrations.
Nothing beats walking through 14 acres of RHS Partner gardens, surrounded by nature and 800 years of history
Eileen, one of our talented residents
Eileen, one of our talented residents displayed some of her personal paintings and entertained us in the Piano room. Eileen's career was in nursing travelling the world. Thank you Eileen for sharing and donating the book "A Nurse of Care" to our home.
Another wonderful week at Crandon Springs Care Home…
Residents were transported via a virtual link to the magnificent setting of Maastricht's Vrijthof Square, to see André Rieu perform live in his hometown with his Johann Strauss Orchestra.
We enjoyed some bubbly and some delicious chocolates.
Pottery has a lot to do with getting a feel for the clay, having someone right there to guide you and help position your hands properly is an essential part of getting the feel of how the clay moves through your fingers and hands. So we got our Local Mr Pottery to teach our lovely residents.
On Saturday we went to our local Wells Farmers Market, were they have lots of fresh local produce, and an enjoyable atmosphere of shopping outside in the fresh air, we like to show our support for all our local businesses.
