Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork

Activities Assistant

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.

As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Life at Crandon Springs Care Home

Spooky Season

Crandon Springs Care Home ran a Halloween themed competition throughout October for the local community to enter their spooky pumpkin carvings. We had a great response and some truly scary entries!

This week have chosen our winner Taylor and Two! The pictures below show the children with their pumpkin and also enjoying the gifts they have received. Well done, very well deserved for creating such a spooky pumpkin!

Our residents chose the winners and decided the children should be awarded with educational books as prizes.

Susan our residents said "They are beautiful pumpkins and must be rewarded with literature!" Susan has always been a school teacher and is extremely passionate about education.

All Aboard!

This week here at Crandon Springs our resident have chosen their weekly mini bus trip and decided to visit Glastonbury for the day.

Every Wednesday our residents hop onto the mini bus and we go for an outing together. Our most recent trip has been to a tea room is Glastonbury where our residents were provided with teas, coffees and fresh scones. Not only do our residents love getting out on the mini bus but it's a fantastic opportunity to support local businesses in the area.

Repxotics Donation!

At Crandon Springs on the 28th of October, some of our residents, alongside Tabby our Life Enrichment Coordinator and Bethany, our Home Service Advisor, went to visit Repxotics in Shepton Mallet!

Our residents here at Crandon Springs receive a daily newspaper, delivered every morning and so, this week we decided to collect all of our used newspapers and donate them to an animal centre for good use.

Repxotics were extremely grateful for the large amount of newspapers and said they look forward to sharing the supplies with a local hedgehog rescue centre too.

Harvest Festival

Here at Crandon Springs we have the pleasure of our local Reverend Samuel coming to visit us for monthly communion. This week Reverend Samuel tailored our usual service to a Harvest Festival Service.

The Christian Harvest Festival is mainly celebrated in Autumn, to observe and enjoy the harvested crops. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the service and range of hymns that followed.

Reverend Samuel from St Cuthberts Church, will be visiting us again shortly to conduct a Christingle service with our residents and relatives.

World Vegan Day

Here at Crandon Springs we have been celebrating World Vegan Day. We have collected and sourced local vegetables to donate to our friends at Elim Connect Centre

World Vegan Day is an annual event celebrated by vegans around the world every 1st November. Every year vegans across the world celebrate and champion their vegan lifestyle.

Elim Connect Centre provides community lunches for Wells and this week our donation will be contributing to the vegetable pie!

Breakfast Club!

Following on from a resident and relative meeting our Head Chef, Gary is ensuring that every single Wednesday we are introducing "Breakfast Club" at Crandon Springs Care Home.

On this week's menu we had the following options for our residents to choose from:

Toasted Crumpet Topped with Smoked Salmon and Poached Egg.

French Delights - Selection of Fresh Home made Pastries: Pain Au Chocolate or Croissants.
