Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork

Activities Assistant

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.

As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Life at Crandon Springs Care Home

Fly Me To The Moon

Our residents here at Crandon Springs have enjoyed visiting Wells Cathedral is the past, however, our team felt it was essential for us to revisit during The Festival of The Moon celebrations in our very own city cathedral.

"The Museum of the Moon is a touring artwork by Luke Jerram. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface" Wells Cathedral.

Our residents love our weekly trips out on the mini bus and the Moon Festival has come out as one of the favourites.

Mentor Scheme

Here at Crandon Springs we are proud to introduce our mentors, Donna our Senior Care Assistant, Louise our Head of Housekeeping and Sue one of our Care Assistants. Our mentors will support and guide our newest members of the team here at Crandon Springs.

We are currently expanding our team, for further details on our home here in Wells.

Pumpkin Picking

This week our residents here at Crandon Springs have been pumpkin picking at a local farm shop in Farrington.

Every week our residents head out in our mini bus to a local outing, typically supporting a local business.

Farrington Farm shop celebrates an annual Pumpkin Picking Festival. Farrington offers a choice of 100, 000 pumpkins across a 12 acre patch.

Once our residents had chosen their pumpkins they enjoyed a cup of tea and slice of cake!

Home Blessing

Residents here at Crandon Springs, have had the pleasure of meeting our local vicar, Reverend Sam from St Cuthberts Church where he conducted a tear jerking home blessing.

Revd Sam kindly produced a beautiful service and home blessing whilst being welcomed by our residents and colleagues.

Tracey our Life Enrichment Coordinator said "It truly was a wonderful way to bless our residents home. Revr Sam is an inspiration and took quality time to speak to each individual resident"

We look forward to hosting a monthly communion for our residents alongside St Cuthberts Church.

National Grandparents Day

Sunday the 3rd of October celebrates National Grandparents Day. In preparation for National Grandparents Day this week, our residents have kindly donated 50 individual cards to our local nursery Rockers and Rollers Day Nursery for the children to colour and personalise to gift to their families.

National Grandparents Day was founded by the charity Age Concern in 2008 and is celebrated on the first Sunday of October.
