Activities at Crandon Springs Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Katherine Cork

Activities Assistant

Hello, my name is Kath and I’m the Activities Assistant here at Crandon Springs.

As part of the Activities and lifestyle enrichment team, I help in organising our daily activities, ensuring that all of our residents have a variety of activities to choose from each day. I love enriching our residents’ lives by providing meaningful and engaging activities and, having been both a teacher and care assistant in the past, have a wealth of experience behind me. You'll rarely find me without a smile and I'm very family orientated, and I love how both the residents' and colleagues Crandon Springs feel like a second family to me!

Life at Crandon Springs Care Home

Tattoo Palour!

On the 6th of August, our residents here at Crandon Springs had been treated to a mobile tattoo parlour! Our resident activities co-ordinator, Tabby, spent time with our residents selecting and placing temporary tattoos.

The temporary tattoos are transfered by warm water and a cloth and can be easily removed by washing. Tabby ensured there was design that suited everyone!

Pet Therapy!

Today at Crandon Springs our residents have been enjoying a pet therapy experience with Teddy the local Chow Chow!

Extensive research has shown that the presence of a dog can have a positive impact on physiology and psychology and so helps reduce stress levels. Stroking a pet has been shown to lower blood pressure and the heart rate, bringing a calming effect.

Natalie our General Manager said "It was such a great fun having Teddy the Chow Chow here, the residents absolutely loved it! Watching our residents face light up was magical!"

Crandon Springs celebrated the sunshine this afternoon with our residents and the wider community.

We had a spread of local cheeses to taste and also 34 pints of WOOKEY ALE 'Witch Way Home' kindly donated to us to sample!

Thank you to everyone that attended but a particularly large thank you to Samuel at Wookey Ale for supporting this event. It was a great opportunity to support a local business and our residents loved the ale.

Wine Tasting Success!

A huge thank you to every single member of the community that joined us yesterday for our evening of wine tasting at Crandon Springs Care Home.

Crandon Springs worked in partnership with local winery The Grape & The Good from Wells. Andrew delivered a wonderful wine tasting experience for our residents in the afternoon with an informative session on each wine.

Following onto the evening Crandon Springs opened our gardens to host a wine tasting evening for the local community to join. The sun was shining and the wine was being throughly enjoyed!

Bethany our Home Service Advisor said "We are truly thrilled we have had a such a positive response with attendees and outstanding feedback. It's great for Crandon Springs but more importantly supports a local business too. It felt like we are closer to normality than ever and we look forward to more safe events."

Crandon Springs have plently more upcoming events so please keep an eye on our Facebook page. Please note this was a safe event with social distancing in place unless in the same household. The event was held outdoors and followed all current guidance.
