Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.
We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.
Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

Life at Cubbington Mill Care Home

Festival of Trees
On Monday Resident Ambassador, Cheryl, alongside Residents and close friends, Stan, Hazel, Pat & Janet, received an extra special invitation to a local community event.
The invitation included: an extra special chance to spend time alongside other local care homes, and listen to a live performance by the pupils from Warwick Prep School in the presence of the 690th High Sheriff of Warwick.
The St Mary's Christmas Tree Festival is a highlight of the festive season in Warwick.
Every year St Mary’s Church holds a Christmas Tree Festival, supported by Warwick business, schools and community groups, who sponsor and decorate Christmas Trees displayed throughout the Church, this year a record of 70 trees for our residents to admire.
Well done to everyone involved in this special project.

Annual Christmas Lunch
General Manager, Laura, and Activity Coordinator, Rose, took residents, Jack, Brian, Chris, Janet and Lily for the annual Christmas lunch at Princethorpe College.
Residents enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner, live music performance by the sixth form students and carols alongside other local care homes in the community.
A huge well done to all who are involved with the special community event! Resident Janet expressed, ‘’I’m having such a wonderful time!’’
Resident Chris, said she felt at ease and at home, in the presence of being waited on hand and food by the students. A lovely afternoon was had by all!

Remembrance Day Commemoration
Cubbington Mill commemorated Remembrance Day on Monday 11th November.
They joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.
As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service from The Cenotaph, residents took part in therapeutic activities such as a biodegradable balloon release, and a remembrance sing along.
Stanley, a resident at Cubbington Mill said: “It is very important that we keep the memories of those who fought alive and that we also think about those involved in conflicts around the world today. In addition to this I released a biodegradable balloon in memory of my beautiful wife Mary, it was a very emotional moment but very pleased I did something for her too.”

The Alpaca Pals & Zoolab
On Monday 7th November we welcomed The Alpaca Pals into our home.
To start the day off, staff donned their best animal print clothing, including zebra and cheetah print.
Keegan and Donte the alpacas wooed the ladies and gents in communal areas of the home and individually in residents' rooms.
Resident Stan, said: ''WOW! What a wonderful experience, I've travelled to many countries in my life time but never have I seen something as amazing as this, right before my eyes! Thank you to the ladies who organise these spectacular events.''
We moved on to the 2nd part of our party with Zoolab with Dawn Chorus Memory Choir who sang all animal themed songs!

Food Committee
On Monday 4th November, residents, Audrey, Una, Queenie and John gathered in the dining room with Deputy Manager Caitlin, Head Chef David and Activity Coordinator Rose, for Cubbington Mills very first Food Committee Meeting.
The food committee idea came from various Residents Meeting minutes, the dining experience in Cubbington usually takes up a large part of all of our Residents and Relatives Meetings, so General Manager Laura decided we give it a platform of its own, and what a huge success it was. Resident Ambassador John, had even bought his own ideas and thoughts to the meeting including items for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Head Chef David, created new menu items for the committee to sample such as, mozzarella sticks, sweet potato croquettes and cornish pasties, complete with condiments, mint yogurt sauce and tomato chutney! There was plenty of samples left for staff to enjoy too, so a whole happy home was made.
