Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.
We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.
Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

Hi my name is Rose and I am the activities coordinator at Cubbington Mill!
I have been working in care since I was 17 and very passionate about my role, always trying to do bigger & better. I am one of Cubbington Mills Dementia Champions. I'm very privileged to work with the wonderful people and residents at Barchester's Cubbington Mill and hope we all make some lovely memories together! I LOVE to find out about residents interests & hobbies through tools like the “Getting To Know Me Booklets”.

Life at Cubbington Mill Care Home
There's a Gingerbread House Day - Who Knew?
We love any excuse to get creative so when we found out it was Gingerbread House Day on December 12, we didn’t need any persuading to get cracking.
Our talented residents prepared a big batch of giant gingerbread men, who then got busy decorating with icing, buttercream, marshmallows, dolly mixture, candy canes and edible glitter, to make some of the glitziest gingerbread men in town.
The gingerbread men look really lovely and they are indeed delicious - what a fun way to spend the afternoon.
A snippet of the Christmas period at Cubbington Mill so far!
Everyone was specially dressed for the Christmas festivities with colourful themed jumpers and costumes, residents enjoyed a variety of homemade treats and refreshments, prepared by the hospitality team, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort! Our residents were filled with joy and there were smiles and laughter all around. Cubbington Mill was specially decorated with beautiful festive lights, garlands and wreaths by Activity Coordinator Rose and Head of Maintenance Waldemar. We’ve enjoyed some hot drinks, such as marshmallow hot chocolates, tea and one too many sherries!
A lovely time was had by all.
St. Mary's Church Christmas Tree Festival
Residents and staff had a brilliant time seeing all the festively decorated trees around the church and singing to all the Christmas carols. Every year St Mary’s Church holds a Christmas Tree Festival, inviting Cubbington Mill along, supported by Warwick business, schools and community groups, who sponsor and decorate Christmas Trees displayed throughout the Church. Thousands of people visit the Festival which opens on Victorian Evening and runs for the following ten days. Groups such as Spa Brass and local community choirs provide entertainment during the Festival.
Residents meets the PM at No 10!
On John Farringdon’s 110th birthday his local MP, Jeremy Wright, visited him at Cubbington Mill care home in Cubbington. John told Jeremy that he would love to have the opportunity to visit Parliament but felt it would be impossible now.
Behind the scenes and working with the team at Cubbington Mill, Jeremy Wright set to work making arrangements for John to go to Parliament and watch Prime Minister’s Questions. Unbeknownst to John, he not only arranged for John to meet the Speaker prior to PM’s Questions but he also arranged to John to go to No. 10!
World Children's Day
Celebrated annually on November 20, World Children’s Day is supported by Unicef and aims to help save children’s lives and defend their rights in 190 countries around the world.
The staff, residents and relatives got into the spirit of the day by receiving visits from their children, grandchildren and pre-schoolers from Butterflies Day Nursery enjoying childhood sweets and treats, remembering how their childhoods differ from their grandchildren’s and children today, listening to staff tell stories about how they spent their childhoods and to finish nursery rhymes. They loved remembering all the positives from times gone by, thinking about how much things have changed and learning about each other’s experiences.
Cubbington Mill Celebrates 30 Years
On Friday we celebrated a fashionably late anniversary of the place we all call Home.
The party started with the extremely talented and lovely Annette from Creative Mojo Ltd. Residents painted a festive postbox showstopper.
We stopped for lunch followed by a performance from Dave Dixon with star of the show, Resident Deborah who was formerly an employee at Cubbington with members of staff who still work with us now!
We then couldn’t miss the opportunity to award Night Nurse Jay her 20 years service gifts!
To finish off the day we were fortunate enough to catch up over a cuppa with members of the treasured community, Princethorpe Sixth Form students, friends & relatives even our private physiotherapist Amy arrived on her day off! With the cheeky, fluffy and calm The Alpaca Pals.
Cheers for to the next 30 years & the team at Cubbington that made the day possible for all the residents to have fun and be involved.
