Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Maliga

Activities Coordinator

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.

A huge thank you to the teachers and children from Monkerton Primary School who touched our hearts and filled everyone with joy with their wonderful Christmas carols and songs.

Christmas Cake Decorating

Christmas Cake Decorating was in full swing recently at Cumberland Grange, as 3 of our residents, Molly, Beryl and Joan showed of their decorating skills gained from a lifetime of baking.

All of the icing sugar shapes and decorations were coloured, rolled and sculpted with precision to achieve these wonderful results.

Congratulations to our ladies and yes they really did taste as good as they looked !

30th Years of Care Celebrations at Cumberland Grange

Everyone living a Cumberland Grange, along with family, friends, staff and members of our local community had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Barchester's 30 years of care.

We all enjoyed an afternoon tea of canapes, scones & prosecco, along with musical entertainment that made for a great afternoon filled with smiles.

Our newly appointed General Manager Marc cut the fantastic themed 30th birthday cake, prepared by our Head Chef, Chris before we all joined in with a birthday sing along - the perfect sweet treat to end a fun afternoon.

Taste of Greece

Our Taste of Greece evening was a bit hit with residents at Cumberland Grange once again.

With a selection of wine and traditional delicacies, everyone really enjoyed the evening arranged by Gosia our Activities Coordinator.

And when the music began……so did the dancing !

Sweet Treats for our Afternoon Tea Celebrations

Preparations are underway in the kitchen for our Afternoon Tea tomorrow to celebrate Barchester’s 30 years of care.

Chef Chris has been using his chocolate piping skills to create this lovely themed cake.

We look forward to welcoming you all tomorrow to our home.

Seat Works Armchair Exercise Classes

We welcomed our favourite exercise duo from Seat Works back to Cumberland Grange for another fun and engaging seated exercise session.

Everyone knows the benefits to our wellbeing that seated exercise can provide, especially in later life and Merle always makes these sessions really fun by using various props to improve both strength and movement range. We can tell that it’s a success by the smile on everyone’s faces.

Afterwards, Merle took the beautiful Chloe around our home to visit some of the people living with us - she really is just the most adorable dog and enjoys all of the special attention.

See you both again very soon
