Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Maliga

Activities Coordinator

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.

We’ve had some very special Birthdays here at Cumberland Grange recently.

Here are some wonderful photos from Joan’s Birthday bash with her loved ones.

A very wholesome day to remember!

The Lord Mayor of Exeter visits residents with books of condolence

What a heartwarming final farewell to Queen Elizabeth II yesterday. Our residents and staff spent the day together watching her beautiful funeral 🕊

Last week, The Lord Mayor of Exeter came to visit us here at Cumberland Grange with books of condolence for Her Majesty The Queen. Our residents and staff were so very honoured to have her join us. During what has been a very emotional time for many of our residents, The Lord Mayors incredible act of kindness in coming to visit us, allowed our residents to feel apart of our amazing community here in Exeter.

BBC Spotlight also came along to capture such special moments.

Thank you all so very much for choosing Cumberland Grange. What a privilege.

Arts & Crafts

With the rain and the wind, some of our residents fancied doing something nice and relaxing indoors, so we made a cup of tea, put some music on and got the paint brushes out.

We decided to do something a little different this time and paint these wooden boxes which make great plant boxes (or a place to stash chocolates!).

Our star baker of the day

With the weather looking a little gloomy outside today, we decided to whip up some flapjacks to enjoy with a cup of tea this afternoon.

A lovely thank you

Feeling incredibly grateful to have received some beautiful chocolates today from a family member to say thank you 💗 our hearts have been well and truly warmed.

It goes without saying that we do what we do, because we love what we do!

It is such a huge privilege to care for our residents.

NATIONAL DOG DAY

What a wonderful afternoon! We invited our local community and their pooches to come along and join us to celebrate National Dog Day.

We are all dog lovers here at Cumberland Grange and so to have a visit from lots of different doggies and get lots of cuddles was just fabulous.

All dogs were a total dream and we are so thankful to all those who took the time out of their day to join us and make our residents smile.

We are so lucky to have such an amazing community!
