Activities at The Dales Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Kay Thompson
Hi, my name is Kay and I am the activities coordinator here at the Dales. I joined the team in June 2021 and I love spending time with the residents each day, delivering meaningful activities that keep our residents active and social stimulated, more importantly we have fun! Our life enrichment programme is varied and we have lots to do!
Before I joined the home I was a lecturer teaching young individuals with high needs, it is very different being an activities coordinator but it does help with understand how to ensure everyone is happy each and every day in everything that we do.

Life at The Dales Care Home
Live entertainment with Emma
A fabulous Christmas sing along with Emma here at The Dales! Wonderful music had residents, family and staff joining in and totally getting the Christmas feeling!
Festive pet therapy
Our little fluffy four legged friend with her fabulous Christmas jumper on came to see us here at The Dales. Mary and Cocoa from Pets As Therapy (PAT the dog therapy) came to see everyone, very therapeutic and giving us that extra Christmas feeling!
Donkey Sanctuary
Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester. Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care. They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide. The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Elf Day
A lovely Alzheimer’s Society Elf Day here at The Dales. A bit of Elf mask making to start with, games and the Elf movie this afternoon.
Christmas tree art
Getting more Christmas decorations made and ready for this week. Very therapeutic and not a lot of things are needed to make them, just paper, glue and paint pens. More are on their way!
Creating art that glows
Light up drawing pad is something new for us here at The Dales. We thank you so much to one of our residents family who donated some ’Create Art That Glows’ for our memory lane. A lovely new way of doing some art work that sparks creativity!
