Activities at Derham House Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Kay Thompson
I have worked in the care sector for many years. I am fully trained in dementia awareness, and I have also trained as a dignity champion. I have been working here at Derham House since March 2019, and I am really enjoying my role here.

Life at Derham House Care Home
Meet our Resident Ambassador, Joan!
Derham House would like to introduce you to our very own Resident Ambassador Joan Turner. Pictured with some of the team and her husband Ted.
What is a Resident Ambassador you ask?
Well, the Resident Ambassador welcomes new residents and comes alongside them as they get adjusted to their new home. They will also act as a tour guide around the home and invite them to the various activities throughout the week.
We could not be more proud of Joan.
Happy Birthday Eileen 103 today
What a special its been here at Derham House, its not every day you get to spend the day with someone who has reached the age of 103, what an amazing achievement Eileen,

Happy 103rd birthday
Taking part in fun, stimulating activities
Our residents had a wonderful morning taking part in a few fun and stimulating activities.
Reminiscing with painting today
Today at Derham House we had a lovely afternoon painting with the residents.
Asking an individual to draw or paint something from a photo may jog memories of their past. Whilst it won't likely bring back the whole memory, it may bring back a sense of joy and happiness which will help residents to reminisce.
The afternoon was a great success and we definitely brought out their inner Monet.
Coffee and cake for ambulance crews
Today we had a visit from some lovely ambulance crew and sent them away with a hot drink in our thermos flask cups and a nice piece of cake.
If you are ambulance crew, police, or fire you can pop in any time and grab a tea or coffee on us.
Thanks for everything you do for our community.
Naughty Elf was up to no good
