Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Food bank Spreading Joy & Cheer to our Community

Our amazing residents have been baking and decorating up a storm in the last few weeks, and producing the most spectacular Christmas cakes for our local Malvern and Upton Upon Severn Foodbanks.  We hope the lucky recipients enjoy their Christmas cakes made with care and love by our residents !  Picture here is the Malvern Spring Lane and Lyttlelton Well Food bank (with our Resident ambassador Maureen) and Upton Upon Severn Food bank team and Santa himself!  We received a thank you note from Food Bank Chairman, Peter Buchanon and even made the local press!

Ho, Ho, Ho – Look who came to our home!

Guess who came to our home and visited local children, our residents and staff?

Father Christmas came to our home this week to give out chocolate treats to little ones who had been good all year – and also our residents! Staff too were also rewarded as they have taken such great care of our wonderful residents.

Admiral's Cafe in Colwall

Each month, there is the Admiral's Cafe in Colwall, where people are welcomed for a friendly catch up over tea and cake.   I was welcomed by Marcus, Mike and their team and Reverend Melanie Horton and we all enjoyed listening to Colwall Primary school singing and to a group of Handbell ringers  -  where we sang along to christmas carols!  The super volunteers put on a delicious spread of home made cakes and a raffle too.  Elgar Court will be taking along residents to the next events to meet new friends and enjoy being part of this community.  We look forward to seeing you in January.

Another Successful Community Action Christmas Fayre

This year Elgar Court Retirement home donated a number of fruit and vegetable mini hampers to the abundant raffle prizes – which pleased the large number of visitors supporting this event.

Thank you so much to the hardworking Community Action Team who yet again, put on this amazing and very popular Christmas Fayre at the weekend.  See picture.

Jenny our guest resident (blue stripy jumper) and I volunteered our support at this incredible event, and Elgar Court looks forward to joining in with their activities they deliver in 2024.

Neigh, neigh, neigh…… Yes, Yes, Yes!

Make A Wish this Christmas – They are coming true for residents!

At our home each resident is celebrated in their own right, and every day one of resident’s is made ‘Resident of the Day!’  We were very, very lucky this weekend when three wonderful ladies on their horses, granted Martha and Roger wishes.  Both had a love of horses and owned them in the past!  Apples were given out to the horses by Martha and Roger at this surprise visit, and the ladies have promised to drop by again!  Thank you so much to Lisa, Susi and Claire and their horses who gave their time to our residents!

Would you like your dreams come true?  If so, make a wish in our comments below and like our post and we will be in contact with the lucky winner in the new year!

International Elf Day and the Macular Degeneration Charity Day!

We are supporting International Elf Day and the Macular Degeneration Charity Day!

Our cheeky little Elves were helping in and around the home today! From helping residents to decorate the mini christmas cakes we made for charity (laden with brandy too), to naughty water fights in our home! What a giggle! PS: I think Sarah our Home Manager was in her element decorating cakes with Joan, Maureen and Sheila!
