Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Elgar Court Open Weekend is an enormous success!

Our new Marketing Suite had a very busy Open Weekend showing people our beautiful new home.   Our visitors enjoyed looking around the suites their loved ones can move into this summer, and were impressed with what they saw and what will be offering our residents.

The Barchester hospitality team made a wonderful selection of home made cakes and drinks for everyone to enjoy over questions about the care we will offer and the delightful lifestyle in our home.

Naomi, the Home Services Advisor said, “We were delighted to see so many people this weekend and finally meet them in person!  It is so important to continue to build  a great relationship with our clients, and we are looking forward to them moving in this summer.   Thank you everyone for coming to see us”.

Our Marketing Suite will be open by appointment five days a week.  Please do contact us to discuss your needs and arrange to show you around and the Elgar Court Team will look forward to meeting you.  Pictured from left to right are:  Kirsty Brook, Administration Manager, Naomi Steward, Home Services Manager, Liz Brooks, Deputy Manager and Sarah Cadwallader, General Manager of Elgar Court.

Dementia Play - Navigating Margaret

What an amazing weekend of three sell out performances of Navigating Margaret.

This heart warming and thought provoking play on living with dementia, gave us all an insight on how many families are living with this today.

The Q & A after each performance with the writer Helen Tennison,Jenny Davis from Arts Uplift, the actors and a representative from Age UK, answered questions from the audience such as ‘was it based on one person’ (it was), but also knitted in other experiences gained from ArtLifts ‘ Suitcase stories’ project of other people living with this condition.

Age UK discussed the help people in the Malvern area can seek (they cover Herefordshire and Worcestershire) and the support they provide from diagnosis to ongoing care available.

I supported and had the privilege of watching all three plays, which were a total joy to watch each time with incredible and seamless performances by the actors. Thank you so much for letting me be part of this.

Connecting with our Community

It’s been a busy week here at Elgar Court as General Manager, Paul and Home Services Advisor Naomi continued meeting members of our local community, building long-lasting relationships allowing those living with us to thrive by staying connected and involved.

Firstly, Naomi visited the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIPs) breakfast meeting in Malvern led by Director, Robert Elliott of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Trade. The meeting brought together local businesses and regional colleges to discuss and understand how employers like Barchester, can shape the job skills for provision in the future.

Elgar Court have even been invited along to speak about the opportunities for successful careers within health and social care at their next meeting.

It was then onto some festive networking at Malvern Library with the Business and IP Centre (BIPC) national network led by The British Library, providing free and accessible business advice, support, information and resources that help independent businesses on their journey. Naomi met a number of local businesses at the event including coaches offering support around end of life grief and bereavement.

Paul and Naomi then paid a visit to Malvern’s community nurses to drop off some Christmas goodies to thank them for all of their hard work over the festive period before heading over to hand deliver some Christmas cards to our wonderful neighbours.

Jingle all the way!

It’s that magical time of year again, and the Elgar Court annual ‘Countdown to Christmas’ Calendar is now ready for everyone to enjoy - don't miss out on the fun!
