Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Become A Fall Fighters Champion

Last week saw the introduction of Barchester’s ‘Fall Fighter’ campaign in association with RoSPA and Elgar Court Care Home are on a mission to fight falls within our local community!

Falls are the single biggest cause of accidental injuries in the home, and sadly the largest cause of accidental death among over-65s in the UK.  Falls have a huge impact on people’s lives – from physical injuries, poor mental health, loss of mobility, loneliness, social isolation and loss of independence. Unfortunately, falls also have a huge impact on our society, costing the NHS and wider healthcare systems over £4billion every year.

The Fall Fighter movement has been developed with the aim of creating a global fall fighting community and we want YOU to join us!

Home Services Advisor Naomi has been out and about in the local community today delivering the awareness session to Community Action Malvern and District’s Chief Officer Kate Walton and her team.    Kate said ‘Thank you Naomi - I’ve taken away some really useful tips that I can pass on to those that use our services’

The team at Elgar Court will be visiting local groups and organisations over the coming weeks to continue delivering the importance of this campaign and how we can all make a real difference.  Please contact us if you would like us to visit your organisation.

Groundbreaking

Barchester Healthcare has broken ground on a brand new 66 bed luxury care home development in Malvern.

Elgar Court Care Home is being built by J Tomlinson and will provide personalised residential, dementia and respite care for older people in Malvern and the surrounding areas from late 2022.

The luxury new home has been designed with residents’ comfort in mind, with a café for residents to socialise and enjoy freshly baked treats, spa bathrooms for a luxury bath time experience, beautiful en-suite bedrooms with smart TVs, a choice of comfortable lounges, a dedicated activities room, and in-house hair and beauty salon for a little bit of pampering.

Senior Property Development Manager at Barchester, Andrew Williams, commented: “We are really excited to get this project under way.  Elgar Court Care Home will be a fantastic addition to the local community.”

Tony Shenton, Managing Director of J Tomlinson’s care division, added: "J Tomlinson is pleased to have officially broken ground at the site that will become Barchester Healthcare’s newest care facility. We look forward to managing construction of Elgar Court Care Home and delivering a luxurious yet comfortable living space that facilitates the provision of first-class, resident-centric care.”

Mr Williams was joined at Malvern by Peter Williams, Contracts Manager and Abdul Boilya, Project Manager from J Tomlinson, and Pete Wilson, Project Manager for MacLeod & Aitken to celebrate the ground breaking of this latest site.
