Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

75th Wedding Anniversary

We celebrated two of our residents 75th wedding anniversary recently and we organised a special afternoon tea and a virtual zoom party with all of their relatives. Vi & Stan even made it to front page of the Evening Express and received a card from the Queen!  It was a wonderful afternoon and we were delighted to be able to share this milestone with them and wish them many more happy years.

Pancake Day

On Pancake Day, we celebrated throughout the home but visiting each of our residents with our very own ‘pancake trolley’.  Each resident was given the option to flip a pancake or to eat one straight away with many residents choosing  to eat one straight away! We couldn’t blame them, because we had so many different spreads available.  What was your favourite topping?

Hug our home

Here at Fairview we came up with a campaign called “Hug our home” to celebrate Valentine’s Day and  to engage with the local community. We reached out via Facebook to encourage children across Aberdeen to make up love hearts with letters on them that we could then share to residents to help fill their rooms with love.  Residents were overwhelmed with the response and love was definitely in the air here at Fairview!

New visiting suite for home

Residents are overjoyed at Fairview as Barchester Healthcare has implemented a visiting suite for residents to continue to spend time with their loved ones for the autumn and winter seasons in addition to the outdoor visiting that has been on offer for those able for many months.

Balancing resident wellbeing and safety is at the forefront of Barchester Healthcare’s thinking and they understand how important it is for residents and their family and friends to be able to spend time together in the safest way possible.

There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment by Barchester Healthcare, who run Fairview care home. It was welcome news for their residents and family and friends as we enter the colder season meaning catch-ups can continue to take place, instead of, or in addition to, outdoor visiting already offered for those able.

The 'Don' Restaurant

Fairview’s new weekly dining experience – “The Don Restaurant” went live on Wednesday 9th December. This week’s theme was “A La Carte”. The residents absolutely devoured their three course meals and had a very pleasant time. The restaurant was decorated perfectly, to match the theme.

Christmas decorations

With Christmas just around the corner, Residents have enjoyed fun-filled days with a variety of life enrichment activities from baking and decorating the Christmas cake, decorating the trees and adding that touch of sparkle and glitter to the home, virtual events and having a lot of fun along the way!
