Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Life at Fairview House Care Home

Gentle Exercise

A combination of music and exercise has put a smile on residents' faces at Fairview as they held their popular weekly exercise session with Physiotherapist, Maureen, who led the gentle armchair exercises. One resident commented on how great it is to laugh and keep fit and everyone was rewarded for their efforts with healthy snacks and refreshments.

Fairbay Icer

As the sounds of an authenticated ice cream van rung out, residents at Fairview were treated to some lovely ice cream treats from their very own ‘Fairview ice cream parlour. Colleagues from Fairview got together and created their ice trolley so they could offer residents a choice of ice cream treats.

Residents could choose between different cones and wafers as well as what flavour they wanted. There was also a variety of sprinkles and dressing the residents could choose from to finish off their creation.

VE Day Celebrations

Residents at Fairview have enjoyed receiving letters from the local community as part of their 75th VE Day festivities. Residents at the home enjoyed opening these and reading them and writing back, which has created a pen pal scheme within the community. It has meant such a lot to the residents at Fairview, as visitors are currently not able to visit the home at this time.

A Kind Donation

The residents of Fairview have received a bumper delivery of pampering goods, thanks to the kindness of a local community group, the NHS Grampian Charity Fund.

A local representative of the group delivered the box containing a number of goody items for the home to enjoy, such as hand creams, sweets and foods, which were perfect for everyone to enjoy some well-needed pampering during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Everyone at the home would like to offer their sincere thanks and gratitude to everyone at NHS Grampian Charity Fund.

Tinkling the Ivories

Resident, Ron, has been entertaining everyone at the home with beautiful music. Everyone loves the sound of music around the home, and Ron delighted as the sound of the ivories could be heard throughout. It was a wish granted for Ron!

Ron mentioned as part of his activities review that he enjoyed playing the piano. This is a hobby he would like to try again as had not played for a while. With a little help, Activities Assistant, Cassie McGunnigal, made it her mission to set this up for him.

A great morning was had remembering some tunes!

Sharing Artwork

The residents of Fairview have been very lucky to receive lots of lovely mail from children from around the community. The children have taken great care in drawing pictures and writing letters in order to bring some cheer to the residents, who have thoroughly enjoyed reading through the mail, and have spent time creating personalised thank you cards. Claudia, aged 5, brought a smile to all with her creative dinosaur drawings, which have been added to the home's display to showcase all the letters and pictures.
