Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Life at Fairview House Care Home

Eden Project

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.

During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories.  A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.

Making a Wish Come True

Violet, a resident at the home had wished to revisit her lifetime passion of ballroom dancing. So staff at the home made her wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late.

Violet in her youth was a seasoned ballroom dancer, she would always speak about how much she enjoyed it and all the joy it brought her over the years.

Her eyes light up whenever she talks about her experience dancing in these magnificent rooms, in beautiful a ball gown. Her final wish was to go to the beach ballroom. Which as a home we were delighted to make this a reality.

Visit from Moo Music Aberdeen

We were delighted to welcome back the children from Moo Music Aberdeen for an afternoon of intergenerational magic and fun.

Spending time with the babies and toddlers brightens up everyone's day and our residents absolutely love when Moo Music come to visit.

Tartan Tea Party

Leading up to Scotlands next big game against Switzerland. our residents, relatives and colleagues took advantage of the beautiful sunshine and enjoyed a tea party within our beautiful gardens.

Everyone spoke about how much they were looking forward to the big game and were sharing score predictions amongst each other.

Gin Tasting Afternoon

Our Gin tasting event saw residents from around the home come together with their loved ones for an afternoon of fine sampling of the world famous beverage.

There was a selection of fine gins on offer ranging from Bombay Sapphire, Edinburgh Gin, Whiteley Neill and Gordon's for our residents and guests to sample and enjoy, accompanied with a selection of themed snacks.

Lots of hearty laughter and chatter filled the room and a good time was had by all.

Coffee with a Coppa

Colleagues and residents at the Fairview House Care Home in Aberdeen, warmly welcomed PC Lyndsey Morris to speak to our residents and guests during our ‘Coffee with a Coppa’ event.

PC Lyndsey spoke to the audience about their time on the force, the challenges they face and the rewards from helping the local community, before taking questions from the residents, relatives and guests.

The most excitement came at the end of the event when our residents were able to have an in depth look at PC Lyndsey's Police Car.
