Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Our residents were fascinated by this activity and loved finding out new research on space and how it works!

Vanessa was amazing with our residents and was a pleasure to have in the home, we can't wait for her to come back to conduct more science based activities for our residents.

Critter Keeper

Today we celebrated world animal day by welcoming back the Critter Keeper into the home to show us some amazing animals and teach us about them.

Our residents absolutely loved seeing all the different animals and critters and being able to hold them. It brought many smiles to their faces which was lovely to see.

We got to see such a variety of animals including; a snake, a hedge hog, a tarantula, a puddock, a giant cockroach, a bunny rabbit to name a few!

Happy anniversary!

A couple from Fairview House care home, in Aberdeen have celebrated 66 years of marriage. Jim Downie and Hilda Downie met at the Beach Ballroom at Aberdeen Beach when they were just 18 years old. Jim and Hilda went on to get married just 2 years later at a church in Aberdeen and had their reception at the Marcliff Hotel. They then went on their honeymoon in Edinburgh where they spent most of their nights dancing as it was their favourite thing to do when together.

When we asked Jim what the secret is to a long happy marriage he said ‘Always do the best you can’. Now 66 years later Jim and Hilda are still deeply in love and happier than ever to be together.

Home host Macmillan Coffee Morning

Staff and residents at Fairview House Care Home in Aberdeen held a charity coffee and buttery morning alongside an Afternoon tea and bake sale on 28th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Having a coffee morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. The money raised helps everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.
