Activities at Fairview House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our Activities Coordinators create a weekly planner that consists of a variety of activities, which caters to all residents' needs as best as possible. The most popular activities are bingo, which we host twice a week, flower arranging and weekly visits from Vinnie our pet therapy dog. Residents also enjoy minibus trips in the nicer weather and we attend a concert every month. We are also involved in the Council Well-being Team, which keeps us up-to date with upcoming events within the community and provides interesting ideas for activities we can try in the home.

Throughout the year, we host various special events, including themed open days and summer and winter fetes that people in our local communities are welcome to join us for. We also have monthly church services with Rev. Ann from Danestone Congregational Church, which is open to loved ones as well.

Hippy Day Fun

Fairview got “groovy baby!”

Today the staff changed their uniforms for some colourful Hippie outfits and lightened up all the residents faces with big smiles. The dining room was made up with lots of Hippie decorations which brightened up everyone who entered the room's mood.

Lots of Hippie activities was going on this afternoon. Our ladies made bracelets and arranged flowers while our gentlemen (and some ladies) decorated brownies and cookies. All the residents enjoyed the treats with a cup of tea while listening to Hippie music. Blessing also got the residents moving to the music when she grabbed the microphone to give us a brilliant performance.

It was a “groovy” day here indeed.

A big thank you to everyone who came out and joined us. We really appreciate everyone who came, family, friends, stall holders and staff, and we hoped that you enjoyed it just as much as we did.

We were delighted to welcome back Megan who entertained our audience and guests with an amazing musical set.

Congratulations to Freddie who won both the whisky game and our “name the dog” game.

It was lovely to see our relatives, loved ones and the wider community come together for such a wonderful time.

Bennachie Hill Fundraiser

Enthusiastic members of our team took part in a sponsored walk.

meeting at the foot of Bennachie Hill. With lots of motivation and encouragement from one another everyone made it to the top and what a view! Absolutely stunning and so worth the effort. We had a picnic at the top and admired the view before we took the walk back down.

A big thank you to everyone who attended the walk today as well as to everyone who donated towards our residents fund. We really appreciate your gestures of kindness.

Kings Church Community BBQ

The Aberdeen Kings Church, Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at our home to enjoy a community BBQ that was held in the home’s grounds on Wednesday 7th August.

The hospitality team at Fairview House served a selection of BBQ favourites including delicious cheese burgers, hot dogs, French fries, a range of fresh salads and a selection of refreshing beverages which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.

Guests included friends and family to the residents and staff at the home, and members of this NHS.

Our residents were serenaded by the Kings Church choir with a fabulous selection of gospel favourite hymns.

Seaside Fun

A group of our residents enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon at the beach as we continued our series of mini bus adventures.

Our residents and colleagues enjoyed a delightful picnic of treats and beverages in the summer sunshine and reminisced about seaside memories, whilst taking in the beautiful views of the Aberdeen coastline.

After lunch, some residents took a leisurely stroll. The day was capped off with a visit to a nearby ice cream stand, where everyone indulged in their favourite flavours.
