Activities at Field House Care Home
The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.
Caroline Davis
Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.
Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.
In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Life at Field House Care Home
Madhatter's Tea Party
Today was a celebration of the day Lewis Carroll first told the story of Alice’s Adventures in wonderland in 1862. What an afternoon of fun and excitement. We were so lucky to be joined by local children, which always puts smiles on our Residents faces. We all enjoyed games with the children, hunt the Flamingo, Guess how many jelly beans in the cup, and pass the parcel. We also enjoyed cakes and sandwiches to finish.
Ascot Race Day
What a fantastic and exciting end to a bust week. Being a small and cosy home has a warm family feel, we plan all of our activities around our residents interests and today was no different!
Everyone enjoyed our grand national day so much we couldn’t let Ascot go past without a little flutter.
Residents backed their horses shouting out the funniest names and enjoying scones, homemade jam, cream and strawberries while sipping Pimms and receiving winning gold medals.
Healthy Eating Week
As part of international healthy eating week, today at Field House, our residents got to make their own healthy smoothies. Following recipes for some and also making some up, sampling all the fruit. Peeling, chopping, grating and smelling all the different fruits. The residents voted for their favourite smoothie; it was spinach, pineapple, kiwi and a little yogurt because they said it was the creamiest. What a lovely afternoon all doing their own job to help out.
Garden Exercises
Some of the residents at Field House asked about having their Monday morning 'Keep Moving' group outside in the sunshine. Residents voted to listen to the ABBA Gold Mix during the class. This mobility and flexibility session involved slow gentle movements and enjoying being out side.
Because we have lots of outdoor space, we also took the opportunity to use one of our favourite pieces of equipment, the parachute. We all had an absolutely brilliant time with lots of laughter and balls flying everywhere!
Sun, Sand, But No Sea
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside - but it was just too far to travel today! So we improvised and brought the seaside to us!
Sand, water, fish and chips, and ice cream whilst basking in the sunshine, what more could you ask for?
Betty said that she hadn’t put her feet in the sand for many years and this was a fantastic feeling, so much so that she choose not to put her shoes back on for hours.
Coffee Morning At Mayfair Community Centre
Our Field House family love making new friends and visiting new places, recently we have formed a wonderful bond with Mayfair Community Hub.
We were invited to join them for a coffee and cake morning. Our residents were made to feel very special and we are talking about making it a weekly visit.
One of our residents led us on a guided tour as this is a place that holds a special place in her heart.
