Activities at Field House Care Home

The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.

Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.

In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Tour of Shrewsbury Town Football Club

Two of our men were lucky to be invited to a tour around Shrewsbury town FC!

As one has been such a keen supporter over the years he was so excited to go, especially as he had never been to the new ground.

Sitting and reminiscing of past players and games, they both said how much they had enjoyed their morning out.

Coronation Celebrations

We had a blast celebrating the coronation at Field House! Even though it rained, we didn't let that dampen our spirits. We enjoyed a royal full English breakfast, watched the King and Queen get crowned on TV, and had a delicious buffet lunch. The best part was the live entertainment that made us dance and sing along. It was a day to remember!

Men's Club

What a blast we had at Field House this month! We launched our own men's club and it was a hit! We had a great time chatting about our favourite bands and music, and watching some videos on YouTube. ABBA, Eric Clapton and the Beatles rocked our afternoon! We also played some fun games like darts and Jenga, and enjoyed some beer and crisps. It was a lovely way to spend some quality time with the guys!

A Day at Ludlow Races

Residents at Field House enjoyed a fantastic day at Ludlow races in the Jubilee stand, where we were also treated to afternoon tea. We had some losers and some winners. For one resident it was time to remember some happy past family times at Ludlow races, where the family used to take their own horse. What a day and the weather was fantastic.

Church Stretton Marmaladies

The residents at Field House had a lovely visit from some of the ladies from Church Stretton Marmaladies, our local WI. Our ladies enjoyed hearing about the group's activities and the talks they hold. After, we all enjoyed the lovely cake and scones our chef Paula made for us. The WI ladies said Paula could make cake for them any time, it was delicious.

Walking Football at Shrewsbury FC

The residents at Field House invited residents from our sister home to join us on our weekly visit to 'Walking Football' at Shrewsbury Town FC, where they enjoy meeting lots of new faces and making new friends. This week our gentleman chose to do outside games supplied by the club and finished off with tea and biscuits. Everyone had a lovely time and lots of new friendships were made.
