Activities at Florence Court Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Jessica Duery
I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an Activities capacity so became an activities provider then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court . I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents life's through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

Games, set and match
We thoroughly enjoyed following the Wimbledon tournament this year
Our tennis fans enjoyed watching the final this weekend from the comfort of their armchairs or in the cinema room with some delicious strawberries, cream and a glass of pimms
We also enjoyed some themed arts and crafts to get us really in the spirit
Guide Dogs UK
This week we had the honour of having Tom Mcinulty doing a talk for us on his life story and the work that Guide Dogs UK have done to help him and so many other visually impaired people. Tom’s story was very inspirational to us all and his dog Toby was of course too cute not to love A massive thank you to Tom and Toby for taking the time to come and visit us and informing us more of the great work that this wonderful charity does
Friday is party time
There’s nothing better than a Friday boogie and singalong to get us in good spirits for the weekend
Big thank you to Amanda Parsons - Songbird Entertainments for another wonderful performance that always gets our residents up dancing
Getting out of the rain
As the weather wasn’t on our side this week, we decided a rainy day called for a minibus trip to a garden centre for tea and cake We had such a great afternoon, laughing the whole time
Working with local support groups
Residents and the team at Florence Court always appreciate the input from local groups and professionals. It's nice to give something back by supporting the wellbeing coaches NHS team at the Meon Practice with donations of tea, coffee, biscuits and more for their group sessions.#workingtogether
Alice in wonderland Magic
Alice in Wonderland day
Today we celebrated the Lewis Carrol’s wonderful story with a Mad Hatters tea party full of wonderful treats and beautiful decorations
Our tea party followed on from our morning cinema club where we enjoyed watching Tim Burtons adaptation of the classic novel
