Activities at Florence Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery

Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an activities capacity, so I became an activities provider, then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court.

I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents' lives through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

I am currently studying to advance my knowledge and career path. I am very grateful for the support Barchester gives to enable me to do this.

When I'm not at work, I love to travel and visit new places. I also enjoy the time I spend with my cocker spaniel, Cooper.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Christmas light switch on

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our light switch on. We were honoured to have the Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Fred Birkett and Mayoress Lisa Birkett press the button to illuminate our tree and external lights. Our residents loved meeting and chatting with them. A massive thank you to New Music Makers for performing a wonderful selection of carols which residents loved joining in with. We also enjoyed a festive buffet and delicious mulled wine before we all went outside to admire the lights. It was a wonderfully festive evening enjoyed by all.

The Remembrance day coffee morning with HMS Sultan

We had the honour of being joined by Staff and trainees from HMS Sultan Defence School of Marine Engineering’s Engineering Technician Initial Career Course, for a Remembrance coffee morning. Residents enjoyed chatting with them over tea and cake, reminiscing their experiences of war times and their personal connections to the Navy.

Community at its Best!

Our Community Cafe is always a highlight. With song sheets at the ready and voices limbered up. Everyone comes together to enjoy songs through the ages. There is always time for tea and cake after and a good old natter with friends too.

Mini Bus Trips and Beach Walks

Our Mini Bus is always out and about. We managed to catch a fabulous day just before the weather turned. So where did we decide on? it had to be a beautiful brisk walk by the sea. Coats came off and we enjoyed the last rays before the Autumn nights draw in.

Flower arranging fun

A firm favourite activity at Florence Court. Residents just love to go and chhose their flowers, arrange them beautifully over a cuppa and a natter with friends and then displays for everyone throughout the home.

Summer Fayre

Any excuse for a party at Florence Court. Staff and Residents got dressed up dusted off the cocktail shaker and had a fabulous afternoon, There was singing, dancing and photos by the Balloon arch. The sun shone too.
