Activities at Florence Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery
I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an activities capacity, so I became an activities provider, then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court.
I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents' lives through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.
I am currently studying to advance my knowledge and career path. I am very grateful for the support Barchester gives to enable me to do this.
When I'm not at work, I love to travel and visit new places. I also enjoy the time I spend with my cocker spaniel, Cooper.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Florence Court Care Home

Sailing Trip
“ We teamed up with sister home Snowdrop Place Care Home - Barchester Healthcare and took our residents with a couple of theirs on a boat trip with Wetwheels Hamble. The trip went along the River Hamble and then over to Cowes where we stopped for a spot of lunch. Our residents had a wonderful time and we even got to have a go at driving the boat which was definitely a highlight for Eddie who spent a lot of his career in the Navy. We’re very grateful to Wet Wheels, we had such a wonderful day making memories.”

Florence Court Olympics
“ What a great day we all had! Our residents and families loved watching our staff compete in all our different races. We had all the classic sports day races; egg and spoon, three legged, skipping, space hoppers, wheelbarrow and our extra special Florence inflatable race! A few of our residents even got involved in the egg and spoon race. There may have been a lot of cheating throughout but it was definitely one of our best days of the year so far”

What a bloomin lovely day!
We enjoyed a minibus trip to Hayling Island for Sam's Sunflowers. Our residents love being outside in nature and what better way to enjoy a summers morning than walking around picking sunflowers. They loved being able to choose their own bunch and had a great time admiring all the beautiful flowers! It was a bit hot but definitely worth it for the great scenery and everyone had a wonderful time.

1950’s Day!
We hosted another fabulous themed day; this time we celebrated the 50s! Our bistro was beautifully decorated in the style of a 1950s diner for our residents to get together and enjoy some delicious homemade themed milkshakes. Staff got in the spirit wearing 50s style outfits and everyone enjoyed a great performance from Delvis! It was such a wonderful day of nostalgia, lots of laughter and socialising with others sharing stories of the past.

Mini Golf, Major Fun!
Mini golf, Major fun!
Today we went on a trip to Solent Adventure Golf Ltd and enjoyed a round of crazy golf.
Our residents had a wonderful time competing to be the best golfer. It was a fun and interactive way to promote low-impact physical activity, helping improve residents' mobility, coordination, and balance.
There was lots of fun, laughter and healthy competition as we made our way round the course, boosting everyone’s spirits

National Ice Cream Day
We celebrated National Ice Cream Day with a visit from local ice cream van Jakes Flakes. The sun was shining and everyone indulged in a delicious ice cream. It brought lots of nostalgic feelings for our residents; being able to order from the van themselves! Even our staff were treated to a delicious treat for all of their hard work, especially in this hot weather.
A fantastic time was had by all!
