Activities at Florence Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery

Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an Activities capacity so became an activities provider then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court . I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents life's through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

Valentine's Day Afternoon Tea

Valentine’s Day

Today we celebrated valentines with a delicious afternoon tea joined by our family and friends. Our kitchen team did a great job creating us wonderful cakes and treats to enjoy. A massive thank you to Nathalie Gunn - Performer for an amazing themed performance; our residents love having you come sing for us

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples, it’s a day to celebrate all forms of love and those that mean the most to us.

Pancake Day

Today we enjoyed celebrating Shrove Tuesday by making some delicious pancakes. Our residents loved using our new pancake maker and getting to prepare their pancakes themselves. We were traditional and topped them with lemon and sugar, delicious!

Therapy Dogs

This week we have had the pleasure of being visited by not one but two therapy dogs. They brought such joy to our residents who loved stroking and giving them treats! Many of our residents recalled their past family pets and the great happiness they brought. Dogs have a great calming effect and bring a great deal of comfort so we love whenever we have them visit us.

Couples Luncheon at Florence Court

At Florence Court we are lucky enough to have four resident couples, enjoying life to the full. The romance simply doesn’t stop just because you reside in a Care Home.

Four couples accepted their invitation for a ‘lovers lunch’ in our Sky Terrace restaurant, where the tables were adorned with red roses, candles and chocolates. Whilst they dined soft music played.

Trip to Beaulieu Motor Museum

Today we enjoyed a special minibus trip to Beaulieu Motor Museum.

Classic cars are a love and hobby for David and many of our residents. They are all very passionate about vehicles and once we learned of their love of cars we decided to plan a trip to the National Motor Museum to discover more and admire the history of motoring. We enjoyed strolling around all the classic vehicles and discovering their origins. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all, reminiscing old family cars and the classic cars they once owned whilst admiring Beaulieu’s collection.
