Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Glebefields Care Home
Animal Magic!
We had a lovely visit from Lucia ‘s petting farm. Animals which included rabbits, Guinea pigs, Bobby the chicken, Iguana, mother and baby tortoise and a bearded dragon. All our residents enjoyed spending time with the tiny animals. Bert was very excited and wanted to buy one among them to have it as his own pet. Stuart, Doreen, Marianne, Dianne, Marlene, Tom, Ray, Frank and Jean enjoyed the special touch by the animals. They felt very happy. And we were happy to see their happiness.
"Animals improve peoples mental, physical, social, and emotional functioning with the aid of animals. Depending on the needs of the individual, many different animals can be used in therapy"
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Our coffee morning was a great success, we'd like to send a big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for our charity coffee morning and bake sale on 30th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Having a coffee morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. The money raised helps everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.
Our residents and staff enjoyed spending time with friends and relatives, and members of the local community. Head chef, Bose Jose had baked lots of lovely cakes, biscuits and pastries for everyone to sample and for guests to buy to take home.
We also had an array of goodies donated by Paul, from Co-op Grimsbury in Banbury, ensuring everyone was spoilt for choice!
Through cake sales, a guess the amount of 'Sweets in a jar' and ‘What’s the Bears name’ we managed to raise £200.00 and, most importantly, everyone had a great time doing it!
Nisha Shaji, General Manager at Glebefields Care Home, said: “Our Macmillan coffee morning has been a huge amount of fun, everyone at the home is always keen to support this fantastic charity in any way we can. We are very glad to be able to do our bit to raise further awareness for MacMillan and money for the charity.”
Little Isla Delights
The power of a visiting baby is simply magical, just look at our residents faces as they interact with little 'Isla'.
Marlene, Helen and Edith couldn't get enough of her as she toddled over to each of them, with a face full of cake, giggles and giving out plenty of cuddles. She's such a poppet, and always a delightful to see - thank you for making our day Isla, come back soon.
Our residents love visits from small children. intergenerational activities can help to develop empathy, care, and kindness; the benefits for all ages is clear.
Welcoming the Autumn Season
As we move into the Autumn our residents have been creating some seasonal door wreaths, Paul just needs to do some Horse Chestnut 'conker' collecting to finish his off!
Arts in Care Homes exhibition
We'd like to send a big THANK YOU to all who joined us for our Arts in Care Homes exhibition and social event on Saturday 24th September within our beautiful home. Our residents enjoyed showcasing their work and chatting over afternoon tea as 'Chris' The Piano Man played well known tunes from the 50's and 60's era. It was lovely to reminisce and have a good old sing song together.
Countryside Views
Residents; Cynthia, Helen and Paul have been out enjoying the fresh air and taking in the wonderful views from the lower terrace vantage point at Glebefields care home. What a lovely place to live
