Activities at Glebefields Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Royal Ascot - Gold Cup

Celebrating Royal Ascot Ladies Day at Glebefields, we started by getting ‘dressed to impress’ donning our best hats before studying the form.

Our residents and staff got together to watch the races, and learn all about the history of the face. With a glass of fizz in hand and strawberries we ran our mini sweepstake on the Gold Cup, with prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

Nisha Shaji, General Manager at the home, said: “We’ve had a fantastic time celebrating Royal Ascot, it is such a great event to watch and it is wonderful to see the crowds back again. We all love horses at Glebefields and are so fortunate to have several horses living in a neighbouring field, adjacent to the home. Our residents can see and stroke them daily. We’re almost certain they’re no thoroughbreds but still gorgeous all the same!

National Beer Day

The gentleman had a wonderful time celebrating Beer Day Britain, the UK’s national beer day on June 15th. Our residents had the opportunity to try different local beers and further a field. #CheersToBeer

Celebrating Carers Week

In celebration of our wonderful care team we held a small garden party during Carers Week 2022. We felt they all deserved a little treat, with a super spread of party food, and personal messages from the residents and fellow colleagues. The homes manager Nisha presented them with a Thank You card from Barchester, and a gift for their continued hard work and dedicated.

Carers Week is an annual event to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges carers face, and recognising the contribution they make to our residents, families and communities throughout the UK. The theme for Carers Week this year is ‘Making caring visible, valued and supported’ - to shine a light on all those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to care for vulnerable people in our communities.

World Ocean Day

On World Ocean Day; 8th June 2022 people everywhere unite to celebrate and take action for our shared blue planet, with one ocean and one climate, which connect us all. At Glebefields we are passionate about all things aquatic. Our residents had a wonderful time learning about the Deep Blue Sea and creating a collage for display.

Using just water, our aqua magic art sheets revealed stunning Dolphin images.

Jubilee Weekend Delights

Our Jubilee weekend went with a swing!

With entertainment from @SparkySpriteEnt to start the celebrations. They had us all up singing, and dancing with a mixture songs from Vera Lynn to Elvis. The home rang out with 'wish me luck as you wave me goodbye and Que sera, sera'.

With the inclement weather our garden party moved inside as we welcomed many friends, family and members of the local community to our Jubilee party yesterday. With live music and karaoke from Champagne Enterprise Ltd.

Chef and the hospitality did us all proud with a delicious buffet and scrumptious home-baked cakes. We took time to reminisce our Queen's 70 year reign and previous jubilees.
