Activities at Glebefields Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Glebefields Care Home
Brentford FC Program Brings Smiles
During one of her weekly 'getting to know me' sessions, our wonderful activities coordinator Kay had a long conversation with Bert. He spoke passionately about his lifelong support of Brentford FC
Luckily for Bert, Kay has a friend who is as fanatic about Brentford and was going to the 14th August game Vs Arsenal. Kay asked if he could get Bert a program and what a result! Not only the program but the final score Brentford 2 – Arsenal 0
Bert was utterly chuffed with both.
Cropredy Classic Event
Nisha and the Glebefields team would like to send a massive THANK YOU to the organisers of The Cropredy Classic at The Old Dairy Farm for allowing us to pop-up a stand at your fabulous event.
It’s always a pleasure to meet new people. The campers and day visitors came from near and far. It was interesting to find out more about the history of our former Rectory building and the picturesque land it stands upon.
As the sun shone all day Friday, and glistened across the vintage vehicles that surrounded us, our homemade cookies went down well (thanks Chef Philip) as did the sweetie jar once the school children arrived!
Happy 30th Birthday - Shilpa
It was an absolute joy for the residents and staff at Glebefields to give our Deputy Manager; Shilpa a surprise 30th Birthday party earlier this week.
With Shilpa being on annual leave for her actual birthday, Tuesday was the first window of opportunity to ask if she could pop in to help us find something...And that something turned out to be a birthday bash for such a special lady!
Shilpa took time to speak too, and thank all our residents individually, she's such a caring person. Happy birthday from your 2nd family; we hope you enjoyed the cake, presents and your birthday messages from everyone at Glebefields.
'Jigsaw Paul' Completes Another
Our resident Paul really enjoys a challenging jigsaw and has just completed another 500 piece one, in less than a week!
Watching the image of Whitby Harbour appear over the past few days has been exciting, not just for Paul, his fellow residents and the staff at Glebefields.
Even though the final masterpiece is missing a couple of pieces it didn't stop Paul completing the puzzle. We're really looking forward to seeing the next jigsaw come to life!
Well done Paul.
Happy Birthday 'Kay'
We all know that you should never ask a lady her age...Happy Birthday 'Kay' sweet sixteen again (well it has a 6 in it somewhere!).
We're so pleased to have wonderful Kay as part of our Glebefields family, Kay joined us last month as our lead Activities Coordinator. She's a star, and is already making a real different to our residents’ lives with her super life enriching activities program.
Happy birthday Kay from all at Glebefields.
National Dog Day
National Dog Day is an annual event to raise awareness of the number of dogs in rescue centres and to encourage people to adopt dogs from shelters and dog homes. During the mornings activities we discussed different dog breeds and had a quiz which our residents really enjoyed.
In the afternoon we reminisced about the animals we have shared our lives with, nearly all our residents have had a dog or looked after one. We giggled about the different funny names they had, from Rover to Fernando! Our staff shared images of their doggies (too cute) with everyone and we had afternoon tea and cake watching dog and wildlife movies.
