Activities at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Marie Spires
I'm Marie, the lead activities coordinator for Hafan Y Coed. I have been the activities coordinator for nearly three years and am passionate about encouraging the wellbeing of our residents. Ensuring all abilities are catered for in a bespoke schedule is paramount to their individual wellbeing needs. I am joined by Clare and Sue who also help to create a life enrichment program suitable for all communities.

Life at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home
Residents Mark Remembrance with Poppy Display
Hafan-Y-Coed residents have been making poppy decorations and wreaths to form part of the stunning display in the home. With residents who were children or teens during World War II along with many war time babies, it has been so interesting to hear about their memories of those years.
Operation Christmas Child Donations
Residents at Hafan-Y-Coed are passionate about giving back and this year we have decided to work with the Tabernacle Chapel in Llanelli with their Operation Christmas Child appeal. We have been busy filling shoe boxes with toiletries, clothing items and toys and these will be distributed to children living in poverty. We want to thank everyone who has kindly donated items to us it means so much to everyone involved.
Pub Crawl!
Not quite a pub crawl but residents are really enjoying weekly visits to local pubs for drinks and lunch. This time we visited Sessile Oak in Llanelli and enjoyed such a tasty meal. We are so fortunate to have great local pubs who always welcome us with such warm hospitality.
New Fitness Class
The residents are thoroughly enjoying our new chair aerobics classes, held weekly on all communities. Fitness classes are proven to have excellent health benefits, including helping boost the immune system and enhance wellbeing.
Pub Lunch!
A huge thank you to The Stradey Arms for a fabulous lunch, the residents really enjoyed being out and about along with the excellent hospitality and the food was amazing. The staff went above and beyond and we can’t wait to return.
Happy 90th Birthday Elsa
Residents celebrated Elsa's 90th birthday in style with a glass of bubbly and a peice of the beautiful cake.
