Activities at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Marie Spires
I'm Marie, the lead activities coordinator for Hafan Y Coed. I have been the activities coordinator for nearly three years and am passionate about encouraging the wellbeing of our residents. Ensuring all abilities are catered for in a bespoke schedule is paramount to their individual wellbeing needs. I am joined by Clare and Sue who also help to create a life enrichment program suitable for all communities.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home
National Video Game Day!
Hafan-Y-Coed joined in the video game day by playing Wii resort and Wii Sports. It is always a giggle and can get quite competitive - we all agreed we must get the Wii out more often!
Trip to the Pub!
It was Gentleman's Club with style today as we visited the pub to enjoy a pint and a meal! What a great trip out with great company, some traditional pub grub and lots of smiles along the way.
Night Team Treat
The night team ore often the people who are unseen but play a huge part in our team. Each and everyone of them deserves to be recognised for their hard work and dedication to the home. During lockdown last year they really went above and beyond their roles and not only carried out their own duties but took it upon themselves to go the extra mile to support each other and the residents when ever needed. They are pictured here having a morale boosting picnic. Thank you Night team, each and every one of you.
Celebrating Carers Week
It is Carers Week and Barchester's Hafan-Y-Coed presented their fabulous carers with a special chocolate treat and card each to thank them for all they do. We paid tribute to the team thanking the staff for their dedication and hard work. We cannot thank our carers enough for all they do every day.
Water Colour Painting
Residents from our Memory Lane enjoyed using our water colour painting sets. By using a pen with water colours are revealed and the pictures are designed to be very recognizable. This is always an enjoyable, relaxing activity which we do in smaller groups to encourage the residents to chat about the pictures.
Green Fingers
With this glorious weather, we managed to get out in the garden on our Memory Lane Community and get some planting done.
