Activities at Hagley Place Care Home

Activities plays a big part in the care we deliver to residents; activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Mandy Hayward

Activities Coordinator

I have a long background in the care industry and love to incorporate the outdoors in my activities. This role is very special as it allows me the time to get to know our residents and their families in a deeply personal way.

Winnie the Pooh Day

Hagley Place couldn’t ‘bear’ to miss celebrating Winnie the Pooh Day with students from Ludlow Junior School. There were honey cookies, honey cake and honey sandwiches, with stories being read by Michelle Jones.

Winnie the Pooh Day is a celebration of all things A.A. Milne and it is held each year on 18th of January, which is the author's birthday.

Quality Cards

Quality Cards

Residents spent the afternoon relaxing and making beautiful cards! There was much laughter and reminiscing about birthday celebrations and weddings where funny and unusual cards had been received. It was such a lovely afternoon!

Pony Visit

Pony Visit

Hagley Place was visited not by one, but by two delightful miniature Shetland ponies! The residents were delighted and thrilled to meet both gentle beasts and the ponies even went around to residents' rooms for those who are less mobile.

Once they had met everyone downstairs, it was then time for a trip in the lift up to our Memory Lane community, where they had a wonderful time meeting everyone there. One residents, who has trouble seeing, held her hand out, and when one of the ponies touched it, she exclaimed, “They’re real,” and was so happy to stroke the soft muzzle and forelock.

Christmas Fayre

Hagley Place had a wonderful traditional Christmas Fayre with traditional Christmas carols played on the flute by Miss Hignell, handmade decorations, gifts and seasonal snacks on offer, along with local small businesses selling their wares and good ol' Santa sitting in his grotto handing out presents to the children. It was a wildly successful day and everyone had a great time. We made over £700, which is going to be split between the residents' fund and Jessica’s Scouting Group.

Memory Tree

Memory Tree

We erected a memory tree in 2017 to remember those who are no longer with us. The tree is located at reception and we are inviting people to write the name of a loved one who has passed on a heart tag and then add it to the tree. Both residents and staff have said that it is a lovely thing and a few people even became emotional with remembrance. The tree will stay up until January 5th 2018.

Silly Singing

Residents have been having a grand old time singing with Michelle. From old favourites to classic crooning, everyone has really enjoyed the singalongs.
