Activities at Hall Park Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Hall Park Care Home

Christmas Jumper Day

The staff and residents jumped at the chance to helped support Save the Children by wearing their Christmas jumper.

Residents Everett and Annie said they are happy to help a worthy cause and give everyone a big thumbs up for being so supportive

There was a bit of friendly rivalry between close friends Marjorie, Sue and Pauline to see who could wear the best jumper? It concluded with them all agreeing that all of the jumpers are the best.

Christingle

The residents at Hall Park spent the afternoon making some beautiful Christmas Christingles and learning that Christingles are used to celebrate Jesus as the 'Light of the World' during Advent, Christmas and the Epiphany.

The residents wanting to design their own Christingles with glitter and different colour ribbons and sang Christmas carols while doing so. After they decided that the Christingles would make nice centre pieces on the tables in the dining rooms

Christmas truffles

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Steve Wilkes from Unilever for an exciting immersive Christmas experience.

Our residents were welcomed with chocolate treats as Paul and Steve took them on an exciting chocolate truffle making and biscuit decorating journey.

To finish off the Christmas special event, our residents enjoyed a themed quiz and a singalong.

We all had a wonderful time.

Tripping the light fantastic

Lighting up time got a whole new meaning at Barchester Hall Park care home as the  staff at the home came together to prepare for the home’s Christmas lights switched on for the very first time this Christmas.

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Hall Park care home, in Bulwell got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the local MP Alex Norris to come and join in and turn on the Christmas lights at the home.

There was, hot chocolate, and homemade minced pies along with lots of other Christmas treats all prepared by head chef, Sarah Bonser  to keep everyone warm.  The Christmas tree and all the lights looked amazing when the MP Alex flicked the switch for the big reveal.

Christmas lights

We experienced the Christmas extravaganza of Blenheim Palace with Social Historian - Antonia Keaney, who took us on a recorded tour around the Christmas sights at the palace this year.

Our residents were able to discover the story of The Nutcracker re-imagined within the palace rooms, each one exquisitely transformed and filled with hidden surprises – from the toymaker’s workshop on a frosty Christmas Eve; through the glistening Land of Snow and onto the candy-cane Kingdom of Sweets adorned with the sweetest of treats and larger-than-life gingerbread men.

Then the residents explored the after-dark illuminated trail in the palace’s picture-perfect gardens. A feast for the senses, as we witnessed glittering tunnels of light, dancing lakeside reflections, trees drenched in jewel-like colour and mesmerising flickering flames in the fire garden.

Baubles

We all had a wonderful time joining Jennifer Owen - founder of Goldfinch Floral Studio for a creative floral bauble workshop.

Jennifer transported our residents to the out of the ordinary world of flowers and crafts and demonstrated how to create stunning hand-made baubles filled with dried flowers and grasses.

Our residents enjoyed filling and decorating their own glass baubles and their unique creations will be displayed at the home for everyone to enjoy.
