Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

P.Y.O. Sunflowers At Overstone

We were lucky enough to get tickets last week to view the 'Sunflowers' at Overstone Grange Farm. The family run farm, just off the A43 between Moulton and Holcot is open to the public 3 times a year for Tulip, Sunflower and Pumpkin picking.

We had a wonderful resident run out in the Hampton Grove minibus to wonder round the sunflower fields and pick our own flowers followed by a lovely picnic.

The sunny sunflowers now brighten every floor of Hampton Grove #sunflowers Overstone Grange Farm We're looking forward to bringing more of our residents to see the Pumpkin patches when they open again from 2nd October 2021.

Arts & Crafts Afternoon

Our creative residents just love an arts & crafts afternoon. With various tables set up with different crafts for the resident’s to pick from they enjoyed colouring in canvases, painting sun catchers and sewing pillows. Moving freely between activity stations they all had a go at whatever took their fancy.

NCS Offer Intergenerational Support

Staff and residents at Hampton Grove Care Home have had the pleasure of 10 young people visiting and supporting our activities team from the local National Citizen Service (NCS).

NCS exists to engage, unite and empower young people, building their confidence so they can go out there and achieve their dreams, no matter where they’re from or what their background is. From the life skills they develop to the friends they make, the groups ambition is clear –to give teenagers an opportunity to unleash their potential, to build their self-belief and get them prepped for life after school.

Our amazing team of volunteers spent time with our residents in creative sessions, working with different materials to create pictures and pieces of art. They played cards, popits and spent time playing fun interactive games on our 360 Magic Table with each community.

The whole group were an absolute delight and we can’t thank them enough for spending such quality time with our residents. These intergenerational interactions are so important.

Aqua Painting

Our residents of all abilities love to get creative, using just water our magical Aqua paints provide the 'artist' with a sense of achievement. These art sessions are particularly fun for those living with dementia as watching the images appear stimulates conversation, helps with concentration and dexterity. They're also safe and mess free as it’s just water and a brush stroke that brings the pictures to life.

Friends and Family Wine & Cheese

We would like to thank our resident friends and family members who were able to join us on Friday 27th August, 2021.

The ‘wine (and juice) & cheese evening’ gave our General Manager, Krzysztof Krzysztofiak the opportunity to introduce himself, and his team to the group. Deputy Manager Renju, Lisa and Debs from the activities team and Customer Relationship Manager, Samantha.

Krzysztof gave everyone an update on team roles and recent changes at Hampton Grove since becoming a Barchester Healthcare home. He advised on staff appointments, and planned home improvements, some of which have already begun; new lounge carpets and bedroom decoration.

Lisa and Debs gave the group an update on our resident life enrichment program, and planned activities over the coming months. The evening was full of good chat and getting to know one another. The regularity of Friends & Family meetings were put to the vote and we agreed on quarterly gatherings; the 2nd Wednesday of each particular month.

We will distribute actual dates and the minutes from this, and future meetings. A themed event, such as Friday’s wine & cheese seemed preferable to a standard meeting. We may also have the opportunity to invite guest speakers and hope to have a representative from each floor to provide resident specific updates.

Thank you all once again for joining us, it was an absolute pleasure meeting you. If any of our resident loved ones have specific questions for Krzysztof and his team, please feel free to email HamptonGrove@Barchester.com, or call us on 01733 246840 or just pop in on your next visit.

We're welcoming new residents to our happy home, please feel free to call and speak to the team about later life living at Hampton Grove on 01733 824248 or to book a showround.

Day Trip to Woburn Safari Park

During the week our activities team took some of residents on a day trip to Woburn Safari Park.

The wild animal park, set in over 360 acres of beautiful parkland is home to over 1,000 wild and exotic animals. We wanted to see if our residents would enjoy the experience of getting up close to the animals.

Our residents loved it!

Seeing the elephants, lions and giraffes’ and all those naughty Barbary macaques' made the day extra special. Thankfully the great British summer weather was kind to us, and we managed to have a lovely picnic by the boating lake.

We’ll definitely be back with more of our wonderful residents.
