Activities at Hawthorns Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Hawthorns Care Home
Care Home Open Day
A great time was had by all at our Open Day. It was hosted in our beautiful gardens. The weather held out for us all to enjoy a Pimm's and picnic afternoon.
Fundraising Week
As part of Barchester's Fundraising Week, residents took part in a cake competition, judged by the Mayor of Peterlee. Our winner was the black and white cake from Seaham House Unit.
The Hawthorns Academy Awards
These are some of the winners from our very own Academy Awards ceremony that we held. The categories included 'Most Handsome Male', 'Grumpiest Carer', 'Best Singing Voice' and many more!
Musical Entertainment
Residents were delighted with the great musical talent that visited the home recently.
Ponies at Hawthorns
Residents were delighted when Katy visited the home and brought her ponies along with her.
Gardening Club
We have recently set up a gardening club here at the Hawthorns. We had a visit from Tess, our local gardening centre expert, who showed us how to put up hanging baskets & tubs. Residents thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are keen for the next event!
