Activities at Hawthorns Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Hawthorns Care Home
Bikefest 2016
Hawthorns had its first ever bike meet; we held it in our car park and it was such a success that the bikers have asked when the next one is! Residents had a great time and we sold teas, coffees & hot pork baps, which helped to raise money for our residents' fund.
Hawthorn's Divisional Winners
Congratulations to Gail Miller and Anthony Teesdale, who have been named as Divisional Winners in the Registered Nurse of the Year and Volunteer of the Year categories at this year's Barchester Care Awards.
Bastille Day
We celebrated Bastille Day on the 14th July here at Hawthorns. Barchy Bear thoroughly enjoyed the French music, wine & food, as did residents and staff.
Fruity Friday
We recently had a Fruity Friday, where residents enjoyed a variety of delicious fruits during the day. Our chef also pureed strawberries, raspberries & kiwi for everyone on a pureed diet.
Fish & Chips on the Seafront
Hawthorn's Seaham House residents enjoyed some fish & chips on the seafront at Seaton Crew.
Hawthorn's Dog Show
We held a dog show recently here at Hawthorns for residents, visitors and staff the enjoy. It was a veritably cute day.
