Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Nina Mullerworth

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nina and I have had the privilege of working at Hempton Field in my role as Activities Coordinator for over 15 years and I am looking forward to many more! I have enjoyed continually developing in the role with a variety of training courses, including a Level 2 NAPA and Aromatherapy Massage.

I love interacting with the residents and organising a varied programme of activities with a person-centred approach based on Barchester's Life Enrichment Programme of enhancing the wellbeing of mind, body and soul.  This includes ensuring residents can continue to enjoy hobbies, life experiences and keep active through exercise and music.  We are involved with local clubs and welcome in members of the community as well as a variety of outings in the minibus - these are always very popular!

Burns Night Celebrations

Our hospitality team went all out to create the perfect 'Burns Night Supper'. The menu started with a choice of Cullen skink (haddock) or cock-a-leekie soup followed by the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties. With a delicious Cranachan dessert, made with raspberries, cream, oatmeal and honey to celebrate Robert Burns’s birthday. The dining hall was filled with Scottish music as we addressed the haggis with a 'wee dram' of Scottish whisky! Followed by reciting poems of Robert Burns.

Dick Wittington in Panto

Our residents had a super time watching and taking part in the 'Partytime Productions' players  version of 'Dick Wittington in Panto'. With lots of 'he's behind you' and 'oh no he isn't' our residents had such a good time, singing and laughing throughout.

Christmas Day at Hempton Field

The magic of the festive season was all around the home on Christmas Day, with a visit from Santa to every resident followed by a superb 3-course Christmas lunch with all the trimmings and regular snap of Christmas crackers!

We gathered together in the lounge for a good old sing-song before settling down to watch some traditional movies including 'Home Alone' and 'It's A Wonderful Life'.

Christingle

Last week we had Margaret and Jackie visit from St Andrews Church Chinnor. They gave us a talk and demonstration on 'Christingle' and how it supports The Children Society. Our residents enjoyed making their own candle displays.

Richard the Saxophonist

Despite the rain and snow, residents at Hempton Field enjoyed a fantastic afternoon with Richard a local saxophonist. We enjoyed singing along and bringing back some lovely memories through the beautiful sound of the saxophone!

Chinnor Christmas Tree Festival

Hempton Field were delighted to be a part of St Andrew's church Christmas tree festival once again! This year the theme was “ The show must go on”. After some wonderful suggestions from staff and residents, we couldn’t resist “The sound of music”.
