Activities at Hempton Field Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Life at Hempton Field Care Home

Richard the Saxophonist

Despite the rain and snow, residents at Hempton Field enjoyed a fantastic afternoon with Richard a local saxophonist. We enjoyed singing along and bringing back some lovely memories through the beautiful sound of the saxophone!

Chinnor Christmas Tree Festival

Hempton Field were delighted to be a part of St Andrew's church Christmas tree festival once again! This year the theme was “ The show must go on”. After some wonderful suggestions from staff and residents, we couldn’t resist “The sound of music”.

Blenheim Palace

We were so lucky to receive complimentary tickets to Blenheim Palace on 8th December. We arrived in a convoy of minibuses, staff and residents from Hempton Field along with 6 further Oxfordshire based Barchester homes all to be treated to a fabulous Christmas event courtesy of Blenheim Palace.

The organisers at Blenheim Palace were amazing hosts. Firstly we discovered the story of The Nutcracker re-imagined within the Palace rooms, each one exquisitely transformed and filled with hidden surprises – from the toymaker’s workshop on a frosty Christmas Eve; through the glistening Land of Snow and onto the candy-cane Kingdom of Sweets adorned with the sweetest of treats and larger-than-life gingerbread men.

It’s a world where nothing is quite as it seems, from a dashing Nutcracker Prince and an army of mice to a Sugar Plum Fairy and a music box with a difference. Resident; Robin Cassingham said she enjoyed the day so much, “it was such a magical experience and very tasteful decorations, there was so much to look at! And really got us all in the Christmassy mood.”

The day culminated with a tea party in the prestigious Marlborough Room, with a slice of Christmas chocolate log cake for us all to enjoy.

We'd like to thank Blenheim Palace for their hospitality and making our day so very special.

Well Done Celebrations and Good Luck & Goodbye

Last week at Hempton Field we had the highs and lows of various staff celebrations.

Firstly General Manager; Sharon Thursby had the pleasure of congratulating Lauren Powell on completing and achieving her Level 2 NVQ in Adult Care - Your passion and perseverance is infectious, well done, we're very proud of you.

We also celebrated Melissa West being promoted to Home Administrator. Having worked alongside, and learnt from one of the best; Sarah Marchant, we know Melissa will fly in this position.

It was however with a heavy heart we said our goodbyes and good luck to Sarah. Sharon and the team thank you for your dedication to the home over the past 10 years. We wish you well on your next adventure - do stay in touch, you'll always be one of the Hempton Field family.
