Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure are a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat is always be welcomed.
Sophie Glasgow
My name is Sophie, I am the Activities Coordinator here at Herne Place Care Home. It is my duty to ensure all residents feel happy and content. I love my job because I enjoy seeing our residents smiling and having fun on a daily basis.
I enjoy getting to know all of our residents on a one-to-one basis and in a group setting. This allows me to get to know their hobbies and ambitions as individuals, and fulfil these with life enriching activities they appreciate and will benefit from.

We Are Going Digital
Herne Place Care Home is one step closer to digitalising and streamlining our residents person-centred care recording. All in the spirit of enhancing the outstanding care we provide, we have gone live for the first time ever!
Our Pink Ladies Show
What a great show our activities team performed today. We had lots of giggles with some karaoke and our very own dance routine, all in the spirit of Grease.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
A very successful coffee morning we had today, doing our upmost to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support an amazing charity so close to our hearts.
We had homemade bake cakes from all different members of staff with the residents, their family and friends to enjoy. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed a live performance from the fantastic Hollie Firmin.
We would like to thank everybody for coming and are very grateful to all our wonderful visitors who donated.
Beat the Heat
This week we are staying hydrated during the heatwave. We have introduced a variety of different fruit cocktails and smoothies to ensure we are pushing fluids and nutrition.
Today we had a lot of fun in the garden with some of the ladies having a touch up on their nails while making the most of the last bit of sunshine before the end of summer.

The Great Herne Place Bake Off
A fantastic weekend baking and decorating cupcakes. We had lots of fun following the recipe and of course taste testing the ingredients along the way.
A very special mention and huge congratulations to our winner of the completion Sheila and to all the wonderful runners up for their hard work and participation.
Cinema Afternoon
Over the weekend we had fantastic fun turning our lounge into the ultimate cinema experience. The residents enjoyed watching Elvis. Anissa put on a selection of sweet and savoury snacks to accompany the film including hot dogs and popcorn, these went down a treat.
