Activities at Herne Place Care Home
Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure are a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat is always be welcomed.

Sophie Glasgow
My name is Sophie, I am the Activities Coordinator here at Herne Place Care Home. It is my duty to ensure all residents feel happy and content. I love my job because I enjoy seeing our residents smiling and having fun on a daily basis.
I enjoy getting to know all of our residents on a one-to-one basis and in a group setting. This allows me to get to know their hobbies and ambitions as individuals, and fulfil these with life enriching activities they appreciate and will benefit from.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

PAMPER & A CHAT
There is nothing like a being pampered and getting your nails done, along with a good old chat to put the world to rights.

LOVE TO MOVE
Our residents have enjoyed an afternoon session of virtual armchair exercises with Love to Move which is hosted by the British Gymnastics Foundation.

STORY TIME WITH LITTLE EXPLORERS
This morning we have had another wonderful visit from our little friends Little Explorers Child Care.
There was lots of musical instruments with singing, followed by story time with our lovely resident Ann reading them a story. The children were glued to every word she read.

CHINESE LANGUAGE DAY
Last week our residents celebrated Chinese Language Day.
The day was full of Chinese themed activities from making Chinese lanterns, a delicious Chinese lunch followed by lots of laughter as the residents and team tried to pronounce Chinese words.

PROMOTING INDEPENDENCE
It is important that our residents maintain their independence by offering an activities program that is tailored to each individual and what they enjoy.
Before George moved into Herne Place, he enjoyed visiting his local store to purchase a variety of fresh fruit.
Today, George along with other residents, enjoyed a walk in the sunshine to the local store, where George was able to purchased some fruit for himself.

PLANTING SEEDS READY FOR OUR SUMMER GARDEN
The residents have been busy planting a selection of seeds to bring lots of colour to the garden just in time for the summer.
