Activities at Herne Place Care Home
Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure are a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat is always be welcomed.
Sophie Glasgow
My name is Sophie, I am the Activities Coordinator here at Herne Place Care Home. It is my duty to ensure all residents feel happy and content. I love my job because I enjoy seeing our residents smiling and having fun on a daily basis.
I enjoy getting to know all of our residents on a one-to-one basis and in a group setting. This allows me to get to know their hobbies and ambitions as individuals, and fulfil these with life enriching activities they appreciate and will benefit from.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Herne Place Care Home
Homemade Pizza Monday
We had lots of fun creating, making and tasting our own version of homemade pizzas. We used a variety of different colourful, tasty ingredients and toppings including fresh peppers, onion, cold meats, mushrooms, cheese, tomatoes and sweetcorn. They were delicious!!
National Fish and Chips Day
What a fun day we all had. Our residents had an amazing time (despite the weather), travelling in our minibus to the local town of Tankerton. They enjoyed tasty fish and chips thanks to Ossies Fish Bar followed by a small stroll along the prom. We had a fantastic time.
Musical Instruments and Movement
This morning at Herne Place our interactive group activity included percussion instruments whilst several residents danced and sang along. Music therapy is key to mind, body and soul.
Charity Car Wash
Thank you to all that came along and supported our charity car wash today in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity. The Herne Bay Kent Fire and Rescue Service consistently had a queue of cars waiting to be washed. We are pleased to advise that we raised approximately £300 and all donations will go to their worthy charity.
Laura From Everysing
As always we thoroughly enjoyed watching Laura perform for us, and of course singing and dancing along to some classic songs whilst having a little tipple.
Thank you to our District Nurses on International Nurses Day
Coinciding with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, International Nurses Day, held on Friday 12th May, is a day to celebrate nurses around the world. Our General Manager, Hadrian and Home Services Advisor, Sam, took goodies to the District Nurses based at the Queen Victoria Hospital to say a massive thank you for their hard work and support in the local community.
