Activities at Herne Place Care Home
Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure are a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat is always be welcomed.
Sophie Glasgow
My name is Sophie, I am the Activities Coordinator here at Herne Place Care Home. It is my duty to ensure all residents feel happy and content. I love my job because I enjoy seeing our residents smiling and having fun on a daily basis.
I enjoy getting to know all of our residents on a one-to-one basis and in a group setting. This allows me to get to know their hobbies and ambitions as individuals, and fulfil these with life enriching activities they appreciate and will benefit from.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Herne Place Care Home
Mother's Day
On Sunday the residents celebrated Mother's Day by getting together and reminisced sayings that their mother's used to say to them as they were children and how they carried on the sayings by teaching them to their children.
And obviously being Mother's Day they had to have afternoon tea.
Minibus trip to the garden centre
Our residents have been out on the minibus this morning with a trip to Canterbury Garden Centre at Herne Common.
They thoroughly enjoyed looking at the different type of plants and flowers and gave us lots of ideas of what they would like in their garden, followed by a lovely cup of tea and slice of cake.
First day of Spring
Our Maintenance Manager, Howard, is busy in the garden this morning preparing the garden for Spring and Summer.
Today, Howard is planting trees with some which have been kindly donated by Vincent Nurseries in Herne Bay.
St Patrick's Day Celebrations
Our residents have all had a brilliant day today, everyone has enjoyed the festivities – I think we all agree St Patrick’s Day is the best of all the saints' days! We had a fantastic time listening to Irish music, our lunch menu was of traditional Irish meals and a little tipple of Guinness this afternoon.
A visit from Little Explorers
A wonderful afternoon of intergeneration. The residents thoroughly enjoyed having Little Explorers Child Care visit them & absolutely loved them singing nursery rhymes to them.
Nutrition & Hydration week
Nutrition and Hydration Week aims to highlight, promote and celebrate improvements in the provision of nutrition and hydration locally, nationally and globally.
Yesterday the residents tasted a variety of exotic fruits with different textures, such as, kiwi, papaya, pomegranates and physalis along with a variety of different blended juices and smoothies from beetroot juice to a kiwi, cucumber and lime smoothie.
