Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Caroline Evans

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Looking after other people has always been my priority and I will do my best every day to make sure everyone is happy, safe and smiling.

I look forward to meeting you and hope you will all join in the events and activities that I will bring to Hethersett Hall.

A Good Old Sing Song

The residents and staff of Hethersett Hall were in good spirits earlier this week as we joined together to enjoy a sing-a-long. We waved handkerchiefs and sang our hearts out to a wartime medley with songs such as “It’s a long way to Tipperary”, “You are My Sunshine” and many other well-known classics! Our residents enjoyed the singing session so much they have requested to have one every week – let’s keep singing and smiling as we do!

A Special Afternoon Tea for Mother's Day

On Mother’s Day the residents of Hethersett Hall were treated to a very special afternoon tea, not only to celebrate Mother’s Day but to keep everyone smiling and of course enjoy some delicious cakes!! Activities staff decorated the library with colourful decorations and laid the tables with fine china sets. We had such a wonderful afternoon and residents complimented our Chef on her great efforts to make a scrumptious selection of scones and sweet treats. We tried our very best to ensure all our residents spoke to their loved ones either over the telephone or a Skype call – which we are doing every week. Our lovely lady residents were presented with some flowers, chocolates and staff shared how truly special our residents are.

Slainté!

On St Patrick’s Day the staff and residents of Hethersett Hall enjoyed a delicious Irish menu created by our Head Chef Camelia including turnip soup and traditional Irish stew. We also decorated the dining room to make the day even more special! This week is also National Hydration week so we made green smoothies to promote the importance of staying hydrated. Our residents were treated to some delicious cakes and cheese scones too!

Oh Such Fun!

On Saturday 7th of March, like every Saturday, our residents thoroughly enjoy playing Bingo. This is a great chance for everyone to get together to socialise and enjoy a fun game of Bingo - not forgetting the chance to win some prizes! Little Visitors from Friend in Deed also pop along some Saturdays to join in the fun!

In the afternoon we were invited to a “Community Celebration” at Hellesdon Community Centre in Norwich which we took four of our residents to. We were treated to a scrumptious buffet with an array of different snacks. After lunch we shared laughter with entertainment from "Mr Sam the Magic Man". Our residents had a great time interacting with others from the community and creating more friendships with parents and children from Friend in Deed

Place Your Bets!

On Friday the 28th of February we hosted a fun Casino night for residents, relatives and friends from the local community. We were treated to a lovely buffet prepared by our chef Donna and we had some great cocktails available; alcoholic and non-alcoholic!

We had professional blackjack and roulette tables which brought everyone great entertainment throughout the evening, competing for some great prizes! We planned this event to raise funds towards our outdoor gym, which we hope will be beneficial to our residents and the local community and surrounding areas.

The evening was a great success and we would like to thank everyone who donated and attended.

Lots of Love at Hethersett Hall

Residents and staff celebrated Valentine's Day by enjoying French-themed foods for lunch which our chef had prepared for us. Activities staff also marked the occasion by decorating the dining room with banners, balloons and Valentine's table wear.

We gave each of our special residents a rose before a stunning performance from a lady called Lucinda who played the harp. What a lovely day!
