Activities at Hilton Park Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Jenelyn Szabo
Hello, my name is Jenelyn and I am the head of activities here at Hilton Park.
Having started my Barchester journey as a carer back in 2019, I have gained good experience of working closely with our residents. After being a carer I then moved onto the Activities team and thoroughly enjoyed working as an Activities co-ordinator, which led to my promotion to Activity Lead.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing the smiles on our residents faces.

Life at Hilton Park Care Home
School Visit
Every Wednesday lunchtime, a small group of children visit our home to read with residents. This activity helps to build the confidence of both the children and residents, and it gives the residents a sense of purpose.
Christmas Party
Residents and staff celebrated Christmas with a day of party music and entertainment. The day started with “the Saxophone” lady entertaining us with variety of favourites in the morning. We than had a traditional Cockney Christmas sing-a-long in the afternoon with mulled wine, mince pies and of course, lots and lots of chocolates. A few residents enjoyed a dance while others wiggled in their chairs. It was a heart-warming experience for us all.
Shopping Trip Out
Two residents recently went on a trip to Tesco’s to buy all the baking ingredients needed for our next few baking club activities. These include Christmas cakes, gingerbread men and Christmas cupcakes.
Both ladies thoroughly enjoyed the morning having a good look around, especially at the flower stands and the Christmas chocolates.
Remembrance Day
Hilton Park held a Remembrance Day service for the residents, staff, relatives and friends. Children from the local school joined us to sing hymns, and three wreathes were laid by residents who served in the armed forces.
Dorothy's 100th
Dorothy was born in Ilford on the 21st of October 1919. To celebrate her 100th birthday, the activities team created a memory board to commemorate her achievements, including her time in the RAF.
On the day, Dorothy enjoyed a big family get together, and the next day had a party with her friends at Hilton Park. She received her card from the Queen, along with many gifts and cards from family and friends. Dorothy said she had two wonderful days and was very thankful to everyone for joining her in the celebrations.
Brian's Wish
Brian’s ‘make a wish’ was to return with his wife to the village where he was born, married and ran a business. Both Brian and his wife Eileen were active members of their community, taking part in various enterprises and always helping others. The day was a great success with lovely weather, and there were many members of the community to reminisce with at every venue they visited. They ended the day sitting by the bowls green at the club where Brian had been president for many years.
