Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Work Experience Student Runs Art Therapy Classes

Last week we welcomed Annabel who was on her work experience week with Barchester Healthcare. Annabel is a year 10 student at Collegiate School with a real interest in art, she held two art therapy workshops; in the morning on our Memory Lane Community and then with the General Community in the afternoon. Annabel was working with a number of our residents who were former teachers, including a headmistress!

The workshops were very relaxed and as always getting round a table gives everyone the chance to chat. Thank you Annabel for running such enjoyable sessions, we hear there was a request for a return visit!

Hunters Celebrate King's Coronation

What a wonderful day we all had at Hunters celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III, the day started with bucks fizz to toast the King and Queen. Residents and staff greatly enjoyed watching the service and pageantry in Westminster Abbey followed by the parade. Most of our residents watched Queen Elizabeth's Coronation and spoke about the ceremonial traditions.

In the afternoon we were delighted to welcome the D-Day Dollies fabulous performance which was greatly enjoyed by all. The celebrations continued with families joining us for a traditional afternoon tea.  Thank you to our amazing activities team for decorating Hunters so beautifully and their planning for these events and to Leo and the hospitality team. What a momentous and action packed day.
