Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Hunter's Piano Players

Hunter's Piano Players

Pianist, Kieron Pocock, provided an afternoon of musical entertainment for the residents on our General Unit and Memory Lane. Kieron played a variety of songs from show tunes, traditional music hall and classical, much to the delight of the residents who joined in with a good old fashioned sing along.

The Olympic Spirit

The Olympic Spirit

We celebrated the Olympics by hosting out own mini games; several events were fiercely contested, and residents were presented with gold, silver and bronze medals. The afternoon was made even more special when a relative brought two of the actual Olympic Relay Torches from the 2012 games.

Scrabble Club

Scrabble Club

At Hunters, residents enjoy the weekly Scrabble Club. It gives them the opportunity to get together in small relaxed groups in a quiet environment where the games are always played in a keen and competitive nature.

Pottery Class

Pottery Class

The residents at Hunters recently enjoyed a creative afternoon making ceramic roses with Kim Anderson from Kym’s Pottery. The pieces were taken away and fired by Kim and will be painted by the residents at a later date.

Employee of the Month - July

Employee of the Month - July

Hunters' Employee of the Month for July is none other than Debra Palmer from our housekeeping team. Staff have described Debra as conscientious, with a non-stop attitude to her work. Whilst cleaning to the highest standard, she also remains very person-centred with a therapeutic approach to residents and colleagues.

Employee of the Month - June

Employee of the Month - June

Our Employee of the Month for June is Kathie Smith, a Carer on our General Unit. Kathie is always cheerful and caring and, like many others, is a valued member of the team, but what makes Kathie stand out is that she is always willing to help and go above and beyond her daily duties. Kathie will stay on in her own time to aid the residents, often going shopping for them, escorting them to appointments or helping them through difficult times.
