Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Hunters Care Home
Wimbledon Day
We held a Wimbledon-themed day, where residents could enjoy Pimm's with lemonade and strawberries with cream whilst watching the tennis. We even had time to hold our own mini tournament in the lounge to find the Hunters champion.
Live Entertainment
Hunters welcomed the performer, Sadie, who entertained residents with an afternoon review, taking them on a musical journey around the world, with colourful costume changes and classic show tunes.
Summer Fête & Classic Car Show
On Saturday 24th June, Hunters held its annual Summer Fête and Classic Car Show, raising money for Barchester's Charitable Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Society. Everyone had an enjoyable afternoon with the Fairford Classic Car Club, the ukulele band, Ukebox Jury, and a Birds of Prey display. Staff and volunteers manned various stalls, including barbecue, raffle, cakes and bric-a-brac stalls, with the added bonus of a dry and sunny afternoon.
The Spirit of Egypt
At Hunters, residents were entertained by Ann from Egyptian Spirit with an afternoon of artistic dance and a talk on Ann’s travels in Egypt and India.
Care Home Open Day
Residents at Hunters celebrated Care Home Open Day by spending an afternoon in the garden soaking up the glorious sunshine and enjoying tea and cake. Musical entertainment was provided by the ever-popular, Bill Eteson.
International Nurses' Day
We celebrated International Nurses' Day by gifting our valued and often unsung colleagues some chocolates. So, a big thank you to all of our lovely Nurses for your hard work, care and commitment.
