Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Social Event
Why not join us at Hunters for our weekly Thursday afternoon social event. Every Thursday, from 2.30pm, residents, relatives and staff have a chance to get together and socialise over a glass of sherry or wine. This week there was an added musical flavour with ukulele entertainment provided by Ukebox Jury.
Christmas Card Competition
Christmas came early to Hunters with residents on Memory Lane using their creative flair to make Christmas cards to enter into the Barchester's competition. A fun & festive afternoon was had by all.
Employee of the Month - September
Hunters' Employee of the Month for September is Teresa Jeffrey. Teresa retired as our full-time Receptionist several years ago, but she is always on hand to provide cover for holidays. She always greets everyone with a smile and makes them feel important, no matter who they are. Some of our long-standing residents remember Teresa and always sit with her in reception for afternoon tea whenever she is working. Well done, Teresa, you really do put a little bit of sunshine into residents' lives.
Harvest Festival
We hosted a Harvest Festival Service on 5th October, which we hold every year and donate all proceeds to the local Cirencester Food Bank to help those in need during these difficult economic times.
Annual Tea Dance
At Hunters, we held our annual tea dance in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Residents, family members and staff were invited to attend and make a contribution in return for afternoon tea and cake. Bill Eteson provided the entertainment, getting everybody up dancing and tapping their feet to classics of the 50s and 60s. The home managed to raise £50 during the afternoon.
Long Service Awards
At Hunters, we recently celebrated the long service achievements of three of our valued members of staff. Rene Quijana and Maria Shelton, both carers on our Memory Lane Unit, celebrated ten years of service; and Martin Collis, one of our gardeners, reached the milestone of twenty years of service. Congratulations and thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Pictured is Martin receiving his award from Head of Maintenance, Simon Hitchings, and Renee receiving his award from Head of Memory Lane, Brendan Gillett.
