Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Christmas kindness

In preparation for the upcoming Christmas festivities, we spent time decorating our homes with colourful themed ornaments, lights and baubles.

Our residents at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View had fun creating the home’s Christmas displays and got involved in arts and crafts sessions to paint baubles and make some beautiful decorations for our Christmas trees.

A huge Thank you goes out to Margaret Dodd whose Husband is a resident at the home, Margaret has kindly gifted many boxes and beautiful hampers of Mrs Darlington’s award winning Preserves, Jams & Curds with recipes selected from Mrs Darlington's Signature Recipe Series.

Margaret’s extraordinarily kind gifts are for our Spectacular Christmas Raffle which is being drawn on December 19th, raising funds for new equipment for the residents. Some of the delicious Preserves are also for all members of staff.

Chef qualifies with Barchester's Chef Academy

Staff and residents at Iddenshall Hall Care Home in Clotton, Tarporley are celebrating because their much-loved Head Chef, John Pomfret, has graduated from Barchester’s Chef Academy in the Class of 2022.  The Academy was held at various different locations around the country over an 11 month period.  Barchester’s Balclutha care home hosted the North Division’s final at Greenock in Scotland.  The Academy is run by Barchester’s Hospitality Development and Standards Manager, Mervyn Knights, and helps chefs to both hone their skills and learn new ones, covering many different modules including cooking for residents living with dementia, budgeting, balancing flavours, minimising wastage, presentation skills and so much more.

Donkey Sanctuary Manchester

Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester. Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care.  They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
