Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Cake creations at Iddenshall

Cake creations at Iddenshall

We had a session of Cake Creations at Iddenshall Hall recently. We decorated cupcakes with icing that we made ourselves and then created a flower bouquet with the cupcakes. It was very effective and the Residents enjoyed themselves.

Flower Arranging

We have had a lovely afternoon flower arranging at Iddenshall Hall. Residents helped collect greenery from our gardens to go with the beautiful flowers.

They were able to show off their creative skills with various designs. We filled stacked teacups and saucers, vases, jugs and bowls with spring blooms and used them to decorate the home so everyone could enjoy the creations.

It was a lovely social afternoon with plenty of chat and laughing. Everyone gets the benefit of their hard work for the next week or so, as long as we remember to water them!

Cleaning in the Sunshine

Cleaning in the Sunshine

We decided to give our minibus a good clean this week in the spring sunshine, so we asked resident, John, if he would like to help us. He jumped at the chance and did a great job; the bus was gleaming afterwards. John took a great deal of pride in his work and it was lovely to see him so focused on the job at hand whilst enjoying the sunshine.

Trip to Tatton Park

Trip to Tatton Park

We have recently taken a trip to Tatton Park in Knutsford.

We took a picnic along so we could enjoy the spring sunshine. It was fairly windy on the day, so we opted to stay on the minibus to eat and then we went for a short walk around the park.

After our time at Tatton Park, we called in at the local Friars Roses Garden Centre for a look around and to see all the lovely roses there. It was a lovely trip and residents really enjoyed themselves.

The Countess Nature Trail

We took a trip to the Countess Nature Trail recently and brought with us a picnic to enjoy whilst soaking up the spring sunshine. We chatted to lots of people with dogs and spotted numerous breeds, including Afghan Hounds, Greyhounds, Newfoundlands, Cockapoos, Labradoodles and Shitzus; we even saw a tiny dog in a dog pram that was 17 years old and no longer able to walk. We enjoyed sandwiches (which we shared with some of the dogs), cakes and lots of hot tea. It was a warm day, yet very windy, so we took shelter in the minibus and enjoyed a drive through the Cheshire countryside before returning to Iddenshall Hall in time for tea.

A Drive by the Water

A Drive by the Water

We took residents down to the River Dee in Chester recently. We had a picnic on-board to enjoy whilst we were out.

Unfortunately, the weather was not warm enough to sit out so we enjoyed our picnic on the minibus and sat chatting and playing games before going for a scenic drive through Huxley and Burwardsley, then on to Tattenhall and down to the Marina there for a breath of fresh air. Although the weather wasn’t the best, it was still a great day out and residents enjoyed themselves.
